GM Releases Fix For Missing 2025 Cadillac Optiq Sound Mode

General Motors has released a fix for a Sound Mode problem affecting certain units of the 2025 Cadillac Optiq electric crossover, which is to be applied by EV-trained service technicians.

According to GM Service Bulletin number N252494750, the remedy is offered free of charge for 2025 Cadillac Optiq units through the end of the affected vehicle’s New Vehicle Limited Warranty period.

The problem causes affected 2025 Cadillac Optiq units to lose availability of Sound Mode in the crossover’s radio settings. The repair doesn’t require any parts and instead consists of reprogramming the radio with new software. The reprogramming, if necessary, takes only about half an hour to complete.

As a reminder, Sound Mode enables the user to adjust sound from the audio system to provide the best sound levels for Front or Rear seating positions, as desired. The mode also enables switching from Stereo sound to Surround sound and vice versa.

Featuring fastback styling and a huge 33-inch LED display in the cockpit, the Cadillac Optiq debuted in the U.S. in May of 2024. The crossover offers a smorgasbord of tech and safety features, which include but are not limited to GM Super CruiseAdaptive Cruise Control, Blind Zone Steering Assist, Enhanced Automatic Parking, and Forward Collision Alert.

Pricing for the vehicle ranges from a starting MSRP of $54,390 for the Luxury 1 trim up to $57,090 for the range-topping Sport 2 trim level. These prices include a $1,495 destination freight charge already added to the amount.  The official configurator is live on the Cadillac website for trying out builds and ordering.

The crossover is motivated by dual GM electric drive motors that provide all-wheel drive while developing 300 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque. These are backed by the 85 kW GM battery pack that stores enough energy for 300 miles of range per charge.

Under the sheet metal, the Optiq rides on the GM BEV3 platform. Production for the North American market is carried out at the GM Ramos Arizpe plant in Mexico.

  1. Yep, I could vouch for needing a re-programming. I purchased an Optiq on Monday, 3/31, to make sure that the orange man’s tariffs would not jack up the car prices. Interestingly playing Sirius or an FM station the rear speakers wouldn’t work but plugging in an USB with MP3 songs enabled them.
Also, the Optiq 33” display is not nearly as bright as the Equinox 2LT that I traded in. I asked the dealer to reprogram the settings on the display but it may actually be the light sensor mounted on the dash that is the problem.
Finally the Optiq’s steering wheel isn’t centered correctly and it drives me nuts not being level.
My Equinox had zero issues and I felt that the display controls were more intuitive and easier to use.
