For informational and comparative purposes, we also provide sales figures for utilities that overlap in price or seating capacity with large three-row crossovers like the Traverse and Acadia, which are generally smaller but often cross-shopped with them, and include:
- Midsize crossovers that offer three rows of seating, such as the Hyundai Santa Fe, Kia Sorento, and Mitsubishi Outlander.
- Midsize crossovers with two rows of seating that are sold at a price point similar to the Traverse, including Nissan Murano, Ford Edge, and GM’s own Chevy Blazer.
- Midsize and full-size crossover models sold under the same name but whose sales are not broken out by their respective automakers, like the Jeep Grand Cherokee. Specifically, Jeep’s parent company, Stellantis, does not individually report sales figures of the two-row Grand Cherokee vs. the three-row Grand Cherokee L.

The GM Authority Take
Chevy Traverse sales recorded the biggest gain in their segment during Q4 2024, enabling its third place ranking and putting it within shooting distance – around 2K units – of the second place Honda Pilot as the all-new, next-generation model gains traction.
Since last fall, the Chevy Traverse has been flying off dealer lots, with the Bow Tie brand’s flagship crossover drawing tons of interest, as noted by GM Vice President of Global Chevrolet Scott Bell.
“I have more people coming up to me asking about the Traverse than I have had in my entire career,” Bell told GM Authority in an interview in 2024. That interest is coming at the expense of rivals, resulting in plenty of conquest sales. “We’re seeing people coming out of Jeeps and Fords, and it feels good,” Bell added.
Even as of December 2024, dealer supply was still running low for the new three-row utility.
But while crosstown rival Ford Explorer continues to solidly lead this lucrative arena on an individual basis, GM is now outselling it when combining sales of the Traverse with those of the Acadia – both of which compete in the same space. This is a significant development, since GM could rarely lay claim to this performance.
About Chevrolet Traverse
In summer 2023, GM revealed the next-gen 2024 Chevy Traverse, introducing a design that evokes “a rugged, ready-for-anything presence” along with a fully overhauled cabin with a “best-in-class” 17.7-inch diagonal color infotainment touchscreen. Furthermore, the vaunted GM Super Cruise semi-autonomous driver assistance feature is available for the first time ever on the Traverse, thanks to the adoption of GM’s new Global B electronic architecture, plus heated windshield wipers.
Four trim levels are available for the all-new 2024 Traverse, including LS, LT, and RS, plus a new off-road-focused Z71 trim for the first time on the large three-row crossover, marking it the first unibody vehicle to wear the Z71 badge. The first-ever, off-road-capable Traverse Z71 offers better approach and departure angles, with its new capability demonstrated in videos recently released by GM.
Meanwhile, the Traverse RS features unique taillights, which are clear instead of red. The 2024 Traverse standard wheels have an interesting pattern.
The next-gen 2024 Traverse offers a single powertrain choice. The all-new turbocharged 2.5L I4 LK0 gasoline engine develops 328 horsepower and 326 pound-feet of torque, representing an additional 18 horsepower and 60 pound-feet compared to the outgoing 3.6L V6 LFY engine – an impressive 22.5-percent increase in peak torque. Yet, the maximum trailering rating for the new Traverse stays the same at 5,000 pounds.
The 2024 Traverse’s front wheels are driven by an eight-speed automatic transmission as standard. All-wheel drive is available as a “regular” system on all trim levels, while the Z71 trim level exclusively sports an “off-road-capable” twin-clutch system.
Pricing uncovered for the next-gen 2024 Chevy Traverse shows price increases ranging from $3,080 to $9,155. Check out all 2024 Traverse pricing with options and packages.
The 2025 Chevy Traverse adds a new High Country trim level after a one-year hiatus, which is missing three key features, and drops base LS trim and 1FL trims, while offering a new Z71 Adventure Package. Furthermore, the 2025 comes with fewer standard safety features, with some now optional, and the power panoramic sunroof is now a standalone option, previously standard on the RS trim.
The 2025 Traverse can tow 5,000 pounds.
Here are the 2025 Traverse paint colors, interior colorways, and available wheels. Harvest Bronze Metallic paint, which is only available on Z71 trim, is no longer available to order for the rest of the model year.
The online configurator tool is live for the 2025 Traverse, and still live for the next-gen 2024 Traverse.
Production of the 2026 Chevy Traverse is set to begin on July 14th.

Comments
I’m pretty sure most Ford Explorer sales are purchased by fleet buyers, especially police departments.
Exactly, which makes this even more significant that GM combined outpaces Honda, Chevy almost beating Honda outright. Wonder what would have happened if they made the more affordable L and LS trims available 🤦🏼♂️.
Between these midsize crossovers, full size SUV’s and sales ovlf various CUV’s, GM really is the SUV king.
Traverse and Acadia are bigger now, and people are buying them because they are $60k instead of a Tahoe and Yukon which have grown to $80k+. Prices are out of control!!
How is that possible?? I was sure nobody would buy them because they only offer a 4-cylinder engine. After all, that’s what all the expert comments on GM Authority have been saying.
@Bob
I would “bet” that “most” people buying them don’t know much about engines. They look at the “supposed” MPGs, monthly payment, size of vehicle, then hp/tq figures, and salesman are definitely stating, “it had more hp/tq than the outgoing V6, not knowing it’s a lot heavier/bulkier than the previous generation.
How would I know, because for qhme them I went and test drove one, that’s the thing that my car salesman tried selling me on from my 21 Traverse, was the engine! I wasn’t impressed…..and I kept my 21
