Chevy Impala Police Chase Ends With Most Gentle PIT Maneuver Ever: Video

A recent police pursuit video from the Arkansas State Police (ASP) showcases what very well may be one of the slowest and gentlest PIT maneuvers ever performed by the department. The chase involves a Chevy Impala sedan, and began after officers attempted to pull the vehicle over for a broken headlight. However, after the driver refused to stop, the police officer in pursuit opted to stop the Impala with a spin.

Police pursue a Chevy Impala.

The incident took place in West Memphis, Arkansas, on March 6th, 2025, around 10:20 p.m. local time. According to the police report, Officer Dairren Evans first spotted the Chevy Impala on Interstate 40 West with a broken passenger-side headlight. In the video, we see the officer activate his cruiser’s emergency lights around the one-minute mark. However, the driver fails to pull over, continuing on at a steady 60 mph in the center lane.

As the “chase” continues, the Impala is seen passing multiple exits. It’s unclear exactly what’s going on – the driver doesn’t look as though they are fleeing, but they’re also ignoring any opportunity to pull over. Finally, the Chevy Impala driver decides to exit, but continues to drive along at low speeds, ignoring multiple well-lit parking lots where they could have stopped safely.

Per the police report, the police officer eventually became concerned for public safety, particularly as the chase approached city streets near a casino with pedestrian traffic. Eventually, the officer decides to execute a PIT maneuver to “gently” force the Impala to stop.

Following the maneuver, officers demand the driver exit their vehicle with his hands up, which he does. The suspect is then taken into custody without further incident.

Unfortunately, we’re left with more questions than answers. Even so, this particular driver can now add “fleeing” from police to the headlight fix-it ticket.
