  1. The Buick Encore GX is in the top ten for highest fatality rates among automobiles sold in America. It comes in at number eight with Buick’s Envision at number 10. Another GM vehicle is number two, the Chevy Corvette, which is understandable I suppose owing to its high-performance capabilities. Having two Chinese Buicks (Encore is assembled in Korea of Chinese parts) in the top ten is a little surprising though. The three-cylinder powered Encore GX and four cylinder Envision are bland little CUVs devoid of any sporting pretensions but the high fatality rate for the two of them make Buick the third “most dangerous” auto brand overall behind Tesla and Kia.

I can remember a time when Buick was among the safest car brands in the US with a stable of American-built sedans that appealed to experienced drivers and thus had low fatality rates. Today’s lineup of imported CUVs obviously don’t uphold that standard.

    1. What are you trying to say?

The study you are referring to makes it clear that the results have nothing to do with the vehicles themselves, but are directly related to driver skill and driving conditions. These vehicles aren’t “cheap” by any means. The Chevrolet Trailblazer is the same as the Encore GX just at a slightly lower price, yet doesn’t appear on the list.

This study has absolutely nothing to do with where the vehicles are made.

  2. I bought the Envision when it first came out. I leased the car for three years. I loved that car. I was going to buy a new Envision untill I found out they are now built in China. What a disappointment. I bought a Toyota. Bring the buick to the U.S. Since I’ve heard nothing but bad reviews on the Envision. GM I hope you consider bring it back so Americans will purchase them again.
