Brand-New 2022 Buick Encore Still For Sale At NY Dealer

The Buick Encore was the Tri-Shield brand’s first-ever subcompact crossover, a segment where it now enjoys strong sales numbers. The original Encore that came out in North America for the 2013 model year stuck around until 2022, having received a mid-cycle refresh in 2017. Although it’s been discontinued for three years, we found one new example that is still available at King O’Rourke Buick GMC in Smithtown, New York.

This brand-new 2022 Buick Encore is in the Preferred trim with AWD. It’s finished in Quicksilver Metallic with an Ebony interior. It comes with the Safety Package, which includes blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and a 120-volt power outlet. Its next owner will also enjoy remote start and all-weather floor mats. Preferred used to be the mid-range trim of the Buick Encore, but for the 2022 model year, it was the base trim.

Power comes from the turbocharged 1.4L I4 LE2 engine rated at 155 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque. The GM 6-speed automatic transmission routes power to the front or all four wheels. The original Buick Encore was underpinned by the Gamma II platform shared with the Chevy Trax and Chevy Sonic.

Surprisingly, there’s no discount on the dealer’s website to account for the fact that this new car is now three model years old. The sale price on the website is the same as the number on the window sticker: $29,370. That’s more than the sale price of many of the 2025 Buick Envista crossovers available at the same dealership.

Although there are no discounts on the dealer site, we have a feeling a savvy Buick shopper could get a good deal on this crossover. However, it’s competing on the same lot as more modern and sometimes cheaper crossovers from its own brand. The newer generation of subcompact crossovers from Buick is so appealing that this poor Encore might be sticking around on the lot for a while longer.

  2. Probably had an issue in-transit and is at a different dealership, originally awaiting repair, now waiting to be scrapped.

There will always be somebody looking for a well priced car especially if its new. That greedy Islander dealership must be asking some absurd price for it or like
jeffhoutx84 said, there is a serious issue with the car.

  4. This car has probably lost about 1/3 of its value sitting on the lot. Might be able to get this car for just a little over $20,000 if you are a good negotiator and the dealer is tired of the car losing value.
