A couple of weeks after the all-new 2025 Buick GL8 LS PHEV was first announced, the electrified variant of the Tri-Shield brand’s MPV made its official debut in China.
General Motors has just officially revealed the all-new 2025 Buick GL8 LS PHEV as the latest variant of the successful full-size multipurpose vehicle in China, the only country where the model is manufactured and sold. The automaker released the first images, features, and general specs of the GL8 LS plug-in hybrid, which further expands the family of Buick’s popular MPV in the Chinese market.
The all-new 2025 Buick GL8 LS PHEV made its official debut in China, strengthening the premium brand’s new energy vehicle portfolio with a surprisingly muscular powertrain offering that will revolutionize the country’s MPV segment. The GL8 LS, named after “Lu Shang,” not only features best-in-class three-row spaciousness, but also integrates the most-powerful PHEV system on the market.
Using the same platform and body structure as the previous-generation GL8, the all-new 2025 Buick GL8 LS PHEV maintains the model’s most successful virtues, adding a new front and rear design inspired by the brand’s Pure Design language, as well as a refreshed interior with more technology and safety features that reinforce its customer appeal. It comes standard with seven seats in a three-row, 2+2+3 configuration.
Mechanically, the 2025 Buick GL8 LS PHEV debuts a new Buick plug-in hybrid powertrain dubbed “True Dragon” comprised of a turbocharged 1.5L I4 gasoline engine and an electric motor that deliver a combined output of 292 kW or 392 horsepower and 580 Nm or 428 pound-feet of torque. Developed in house, the full-cell battery helps deliver a combined driving range of 1,420 km (882 miles).
The all-new 2025 Buick GL8 LS PHEV will be officially launched and go on sale in the Chinese market during the second quarter of the year, making the GL8 family its largest model lineup ever and better suited to the current needs of Chinese customers. Moving forward, the full-size MPV lineup will include the Buick GL8 Legacy, the all-new GL8 LS, the new GL8 ES, and the flagship GL8 Century.

Yet another dreadful Buick front end.
…and yet, you bought a Buick
Yet another whiny beachy comment.
At least they can have an interior color other than 6 shades of black. Nice vehicle, too bad we cant have one here.
Build one in the USA!
And add a lower priced Chevy version for volume.
Bring it to canada , cheaper now without US tariffs
882 miles ???????????????????
Boy, that’s good looking. It sure upholds the Buick Riviera’s tradition of stunning design. I was afraid those days were gone forever but those Chinese designers really have talent.
Those are impressive engine figures as well. Developed “in-house”. Does that mean it can’t be used in the US?
Great! Now put that in the US Spec Equinox and Terrain. And a 2.5 or 2.0T plug in hybrid in the large 3 rows
Great looking. great MPG driving range, Now if we can get rid of this Trump. GM can become GM of the past decades.
Biden put 100% tariffs on vehicles from China.
GM would have to get rid of a lot of its upper management to become the GM of past decades.
Put a Cadillac front clip on this and call it EscalaVan.
Sell at Buick showrooms to give former Gm min-van owners a choice of a mini-van.
