2027 Chevy Silverado Cab: Is That A Sunglass Holder?

The fact that GM’s current full-size trucks don’t have a sunglass holder, even as an option, isn’t great. But that could very well change for the next generation: spy photos of the next-gen, 2027 Chevy Silverado cab seem to show a spot within the overhead console that is a dead ringer for sunglass storage.

The overhead console on the 2027 Silverado prototype in question seems to extend toward the rear of the truck significantly more than the one on the current Chevy Silverado. The likely sunglasses compartment can be clearly seen at the back-most part of the overhead console, complete with what looks like a horizontally-oriented button to release it.

Meanwhile, the overhead console in the current Silverado does not extend as far rearward as the one in the prototype, with a substantial amount of “dead space” immediately after the control panel that contains the overhead lights, garage controls, and sunroof controls.

If we are, in fact, looking at an overhead storage area for sunglasses, then the addition would address one of the biggest pet-peeves with the current-gen Chevy Silverado cab. The fact that there is so much unused space in GM’s bread-and-butter truck is quite an oversight on the part of product planners and designers.

So, is that a compartment for sunglasses in the 2027 Chevy Silverado cab? Judge for yourself and vote in the poll right below.

  2. First GM Authority had an exciting story all about the redesigned a-pillar grab handle, and now we have ground shaking news that the new GM truck twins may have a sunglass holder! If this is what we can expect as upgrades to the next generation of GM trucks, I think I’ll order a 2026 Denali instead of waiting for the 27.

    1. Or maybe they’re reporting what they can see so far.

Simple things like door handles and storage compartments might not seem all that exciting but they’re actually very important when it comes to someone liking a vehicle (the industry term is satisfaction). Owners use and come into contact with things like handles on a daily basis.

But Bill Smalls the top of the dash by the windshield that you never touch has to be top grain leather and the rest of the interior looks like a place you’d be afraid to use as a “work” truck or even tow with! I call them look at me attention getting vehicles! You want my attention build a Chevy pickup sport truck the SS 454 or 2000s SS Silverado used to be. Oh and my door handles had better light up! Lol

  4. Hey gm..How about worrying about back ordered parts on all the previous year trucks that have been sitting in shops for over 30 days.
