The 2026 Chevy Silverado EV debuts the third model year for the all-electric pickup, bringing with it a variety of notable changes. Among these is a trim level shakeup with the launch of the new off-road-oriented Silverado EV Trail Boss. Notably, the 2026 Chevy Silverado EV will also delete the RST trim.
Previously offered for the 2024 and 2025 model years, the RST trim trim serves as the sportier, high-content offering of the lineup, featuring standout equipment like 24-inch Carbon Flash Metallic wheels and the GM Super Cruise hands-free semi-autonomous driver assist system. The RST is also the most expensive Silverado EV trim, with pricing starting at $89,395 for the RST Extended Range and $97,895 for the RST Max Range (both figures include $2,095 for destination charges). Additionally, these two configurations are ineligible for the $7,500 federal EV tax credit, which is only applicable to models priced under the $80,000 mark.
Now, for 2026, GM Authority has confirmed that the RST will not make its return, with both the Extended Range and the Max Range variants deleted for the latest model year. Rather, the new Silverado EV Trail Boss will serve as the RST’s indirect successor. The exact reason behind the RST’s removal from the lineup remains unclear.
Nevertheless, for those customers that absolutely must have a new Silverado EV RST, there are options, with roughly 1,116 units of the 2024 Silverado EV RST and 630 units of the 2025 Silverado EV RST still available in dealer inventory. To note, GM sold only 2,383 units of the Silverado EV over the course of Q1 of the 2025 calendar year. There’s also roughly 1,000 units of the LT trim level and 1,000 units of the WT trim level currently available in dealer inventory.
The start of regular production (SORP) for the 2026 Silverado EV is slated to begin May 19th, 2025. All Silverado EV variants, including the upcoming Trail Boss, are equipped with standard all-wheel drive and powered by GM’s proprietary battery and drive motor technology. The Silverado EV rides the GM BT1 platform, which also underpins the GMC Hummer EV and GMC Sierra EV. Assembly will continue to take place at the GM Factory Zero plant in Michigan.

Wow that sucks. Easily the best looking EV truck.
I’m surprise too, though I find Sierra EV better looking. These 2 were positioned very closely, with Sierra offering imo better looks, interior, ride quality and prestige for the same price.
aahhhh sorry entering here… was an error… a blackybox recycling boring car… i clicked other page… however saw this shiiiiiiiiit
Because it’s too expensive and nobody is buying them. What a shame. I think it’s the best looking Silverado EV
Trail Boss easily beats the RST for looks. Pimp wheels look stupid on truck.
And lifted trucks are for overweight short fat guys with HUGE egos!! They look stupid!!!
Lifted trucks serve a purpose. Some of us need to go off the beaten path. RST was for Starbucks employees cosplaying as tough guys.
@MudMan
Ya, the purpose of a lifted truck is to stroke your EGO. A regular LT or SLE truck can go same places a “lifted” truck wants to go off the beaten path!
I have gone deer, turkey, pheasant, dove hunting all here in Iowa and NEVER needed a “lifted truck” to any of it.
Shame.
How much range does the base model have?
The biggest problem with these changes are those that bought already are going to have a hard time finding parts….unless this is mostly a name change.
Is this ture that these SEVs are SIAC-GM Designed trucks with mostly PRC made parts and only assembeled in Factory Zero ? Also Battery pack from LG Chem based in US. what about drive train , Inverters, heatpump, and electronics and infotainment systems?
Mary says eat cake. Those old evs from past model years need a jump start. If the dealers can’t sell them, maybe we can con the employees to by them gms.
This makes absolutely no sense. There are over twice as many Chevy dealers as GMC dealers so there will be markets where the premium spec GM EV truck isn’t available to see and test drive.
Plus, the GMC is roughly $1300 more expensive model to model (2026 Elevation to 2026 LT).
Supposedly, this is to reduce the number of parts combinations going across the assembly line. Yet, in reality, the only reduction would involve the interior fittings and RST specific wheels. Everything else is shared with the Sierra Denali EV. So, the reduction isn’t saving enough to justify risking sales and market share.
I would expect to see Chevy get a ration of grief from its dealers who aren’t accustomed to having GMC offer truck trims they can’t.
On top of that, there are those of us who prefer the Silverado EV styling and exterior colors to the Sierra. The Sierra looks like it was designed by a Japanese tween (too busy) and the exterior colors are geriatric (which is ironic given the cluttered exterior styling).
I tell you I am no marketing genuis..but play one on tv.
Buty All GM Chevy has to do is slap smome very sexy racy Crome or Silver alumn 5 Spoke rims standard on all Tims and those dames thing woud fly off the lots. Even go old school modern
version 69 Chevelle Steel rim with co\\Corrvette center ring caps.
Something other than those dame dark uggly Black Wheels on practically all Trims.
Its almost like the make the Truck very nice but forgot about the whole look.
I am acutally surprised some dealer lots havnt swapped out there Demos to move the Silverado \EVs
I persoanlyy love them but cant afford yet..
Losing money on every sale, brilliant!
