2026 Chevy BrightDrop Deletes Black Door Option

The 2026 Chevy BrightDrop debuts the second model year for Chevrolet’s all-electric commercial delivery van, bringing with it a number of subtle but important changes. Among the changes are new charging options, plus a new mid-range battery option. However, perhaps the most visible update is deletion of the Black-painted door option.

The 2026 Chevy brightDrop will not offer black-painted doors from the factory.

Tagged with RPO code R6V, the Black-painted door option was previously available across all four BrightDrop configurations, including 400 FWD, 400 AWD, 600 FWD, and 600 AWD. The black door finish offered a contrasting color that offset the standard white-painted body. As a result, the standard white-painted doors will be the only factory door color option for the 2026 Chevy BrightDrop. Notably, the black door option is no longer available to order for the 2025-model-year Chevy BrightDrop, either.

Meanwhile, GM is expanding the 2026 Chevy BrightDrop lineup with the introduction of a new Extended Range battery pack (RPO code EWU) option. Positioned between the existing Standard Range (14-module, RPO code ETC) and Max Range (20-module, RPO code ETJ) battery packs, the new 16-module pack offers an estimated driving range of 204 miles on a full charge, providing fleet buyers with a middle-ground option when it comes to cost and capability.

Another significant update for the 2026 Chevy BrightDrop is a new power offboarding feature (RPO code KV7), an option that will allow users to draw 7.2 kW of split-phase AC power from the vehicle, making it ideal for powering equipment and tools at a job site. A similar system is already available to Silverado EV customers, per previous GM Authority coverage. Selecting this feature on the Chevy BrightDrop replaces the standard 19.2 kW on-board charging module (RPO code K2O) with an 11.5 kW module (RPO code K28).

The Chevy BrightDrop is manufactured at the GM CAMI Assembly plant in Ingersoll, Ontario. It’s currently unclear how the ongoing trade policy changes enacted by the Trump administration may affect Chevy BrightDrop production.

  1. GM sold 274 Brightdrop vans in the first quarter of 2025 so they’re on track to move about 1,100 this year or about 3 per day.

Rebates are currently $25,500, or $31,250 for Costco members.

I’ve never known GM to keep things around that sell as poorly as many of their EVs.

    1. Yet the halfway decent sellers- the Malibu for example-are jettisoned even though the sales are exponentially higher than a lot of their EVs.

  2. I was going to buy one, but now that the Black-painted door is not available ……

  3. Privately the Hierarchy of one competing car company is thrilled at GM’s ignorance when it comes to EVs. The word is that where Ms. Barra is demolishing ICE equipped vehicles, they plan to increase ICE production with new and more powerful ICE equipped trucks and vans than ever before. President Trump has thrown the door wide open for the next three and a half years and maybe beyond…Goodbye GM.

  4. This in is for Canadian readers: Your auto unions need to demand a change in management. Environmental issues, wild EV projections and building vehicles nobody wants does not pay your bills or put food on your table. Tell them you need to work and quit fighting your giant neighbor to your south…THERE IS NO FUTURE IN IT.

  5. Set that body on a Silverado chassis with an ICE and I’m interested!
