2025 GMC Terrain Gets New Riverstone Metallic Paint: First Look

Heralding the arrival of the nameplate’s third generation with an assortment of updates, the 2025 GMC Terrain features new tech and safety features along with rugged, truck-inspired styling.

Among other changes, the 2025 GMC Terrain also gets two new exterior paint colors for its palette after dropping two hues available in 2024. Here, GM Authority is exploring the details of the new Riverstone Metallic color.

Identified by color code GFR and touch-up paint code WA-316E, Riverstone Metallic is a gray color with a brown, earth-tone tinge. It is one of six paint colors offered for the 2025 GMC Terrain, though the number of exterior color options is boosted to twelve by the availability of Sterling Metallic or Ebony Twilight Metallic roofs. The full list of 2025 paint colors includes the following:

  • Ebony Twilight Metallic (GB8)
  • Ebony Twilight Metallic with Sterling Metallic roof (GB8/26R)
  • Sterling Metallic (GXD)
  • Sterling Metallic with Ebony Twilight Metallic roof (GXD/94T)
  • Summit White (GAZ)
  • Summit White with Ebony Twilight Metallic roof (GAZ/94T)
  • Volcanic Red Tintcoat (GNT)
  • Volcanic Red Tintcoat with Ebony Twilight Metallic roof (GNT/94T)
  • Rapids Metallic (GAL – new for 2025)
  • Rapids Metallic with Ebony Twilight Metallic roof (GAL/94T – new for 2025)
  • Riverstone Metallic (GFR – new for 2025)
  • Riverstone Metallic with Ebony Twilight Metallic roof (GFR/94T – new for 2025)

The Riverstone Metallic paint color is a metallic hue but not a tintcoat. It is offered as an extra-charge option for the 2025 GMC Terrain priced at $495, and can be ordered in conjunction with the Ebony Twilight Metallic roof (color code 94T) for an additional $495, or $990 in total. Riverstone Metallic can be combined with any of the Terrain’s interior colorways.

As a reminder, the four interior colorways on offer for the 2025 Terrain consist of the following:

  • After Dark, Premium Cloth (EKV)
  • Gideon Gray / After Dark, Premium Cloth (H90)
  • After Dark, CoreTec (H9F)
  • Gideon Gray / After Dark, CoreTec (HFL)



As a reminder, pricing for the Terrain’s Elevation trim starts at an MSRP of $31,395 for FWD and $33,395 for AWD, including a $1,395 destination freight charge. The official configurator for the 2025 Terrain is live and ready for use.

Motivation is supplied to the crossover by the turbocharged 1.5L I4 LSD gasoline engine developing 175 horsepower and 184 (with the front-wheel drivetrain) of 203 (with AWD) pound-feet of torque. The model is underpinned by the GM D2 platform while production takes place at the GM San Luis Potosí plant in Mexico.

  4. I paint car’s for a living. I would like to say I’m so sick of all the ugly non-matching gray bland paint. Everyone has them and they truly are depressing

  5. Imagine how much more desirable this would be with some actual exterior colors besides the normal white, black and grey crap, some interior color options besides black and grey and something with performance like the 2.0T or a hybrid setup?
