2025 GMC Sierra EV Gets New Deep Ocean Metallic Color: First Look

The 2025 GMC Sierra EV is the electric truck model’s second model year, and among other updates, gets a much larger selection of exterior paints than the single Thunderstorm Gray color offered in 2024 – with six colors now in the lineup.

The single blue tone in the 2025 GMC Sierra EV is the slate blue Deep Ocean Metallic, under the GM Authority microscope here for details of availability and pricing.

Deep Ocean Metallic is identified via color code GAI and touch-up paint code WA-223K. The 2025 GMC Sierra EV has six exterior colors available including Deep Ocean Metallic, with the full palette consisting of these tints:

  • Dark Ember Tintcoat (GAB – new for 2025)
  • Deep Ocean Metallic (GAI – new for 2025)
  • Moonlight Matte (GLG – new for 2025)
  • Onyx Black (GBA – new for 2025)
  • Summit White (GAZ – new for 2025)
  • Thunderstorm Gray (GNO)

Priced at an additional $495, Deep Ocean Metallic is – as its name indicates – a metallic paint color, but is not a tintcoat. Both of the interior colorways offered on the 2025 GMC Sierra EV can be combined with this medium-dark blue paint.

Interior colorways of the 2025 Sierra EV are still limited to a tan and a black choice, with the official names of these cockpit colors listed here for reference:

  • After Dark
  • Desert Dune

As GM Authority revealed, $91,995 starting MSRP is the lowest of the current pricing for the EV pickup, with only the Denali trim currently on offer. This price is for the Extended Range truck, while the Denali Max Range carries a $100,495 base price tag. A $2,095 destination freight charge is included in these two prices. Soon to join the lineup are the Elevation and AT4 trim levels, adding a more affordable starting price with the Elevation, and some off-pavement capability in the case of the AT4, with two additional inches of ground clearance, red recovery hooks, Crabwalk, four-wheel steering, Terrain Mode, and other useful features.

The GM drive motors and GM batteries that comprise the 2025 Sierra EV’s powertrain crank out 645 horsepower and 785 pound-feet of torque in the Extended Range setup, with 760 horsepower and 785 pound-feet of torque supplied by the Max Range variant.

Under the sheet metal, the Sierra EV is supported by the GM BT1 platform. Production is carried out at the GM Factory Zero plant in Michigan with the GM Lake Orion plant slated to also begin production of the model in the future.

  2. I thought I would want the Sierra EV Denali Max Range in black until I saw this color. I test drove one around Christmas. The best terms at the time were 5.9% for 60 months so I’m waiting for 0%. Cars.com is showing 55 Max Range trucks in this color in the U.S.

    1. Just lease it for 2 years. You’ll end up way better and if you love the vehicle (and they still make it) you can lease another one and probably pick up a large lease loyalty incentive.

Buying one at 60 months, you’ll be upside down for at least 2.5-3 years and still owe payments, just my opinion to anyone looking to get an EV.

      1. The problem with leasing an EV, the lease payments amount to 80% of the MSRP because of the uncertainty of the residual value. So, make the lease payments and have nothing at the end of lease, or pay another 20% and at least own the vehicle.
