2025 Cadillac Lyriq Recalled For Noncompliant Owner Manual Head Restraint Information

GM has issued a new noncompliance recall for certain units of the 2025 Cadillac Lyriq that have an inaccurate description of rear-seat head restraint usage in the owner’s manual included with the vehicles.

General Motors Noncompliance Recall number N252492340 also describes a remedy which is available to 2025 Cadillac Lyriq owners in both the U.S. and Canada.

The problem: affected 2025 Cadillac Lyriq units were shipped with owner’s manuals that contain incorrect information on how to adjust the rear outboard head restraint. The instructions as printed show how to adjust the Chinese Lyriq variant’s headrest, which does not use the same adjustment method as the North American Lyriq (or the Lyriq anywhere else in the world).

The hazards: incorrectly adjusting the rear seat head restraints following the instructions included in the noncompliant manual might increase the risk of injury in the event of a crash or collision. The manuals are also not in compliance with U.S. and Canadian regulations about printed safety instructions.

The fix: a remedy requiring no parts is available for both U.S. and Canadian units of the 2025 Cadillac Lyriq. The General will mail a printed insert to all owners of record with correct head restraint adjustment instructions, which should be inserted in the manual. This insert will also be supplied to dealers and owners can opt to have it inserted at the dealership. In either case the remedy is provided free of charge.

Dealers must also add the special insert to the owner’s manual of any affected Lyriq crossovers in their inventory before selling or delivering these vehicles.

Affected vehicles:

  • 2025 Cadillac Lyriq

Number of affected vehicles: GM has used manufacturing records to determine that 10,643 units of the Lyriq crossover are affected. Another 899 units are being recalled in Canada. GM has provided a complete list of VINs for affected Lyriqs to dealerships for identification and verification purposes.

Owners should: wait for the arrival of the correct 2025 Cadillac Lyriq headrest adjustment instructions from GM and insert these in their owner’s manual, or have the dealership do this for them. The inserts will be mailed on May 12th, 2025. 1. The online PDF of the owners manual has already been updated with the correct information. No one is actually getting a printed version of this document unless you buy it from an approved GM book seller.
