Wuling MINI EV Is China’s Best-Selling Vehicle So Far 2025

General Motors’ Wuling MINI EV continues to increase its level of commercial success in China, where it is currently the best-selling vehicle so far in 2025.

According to the latest sales figures from the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) published in local media, the Wuling MINI EV ended February as the best-selling vehicle in the Asian country, both for that month and overall for the first two months of the calendar year. This strong performance so far in 2025 consolidates the MINI EV as the automaker’s most popular and successful model in the world’s largest automotive market.

Specifically, the latest CPCA report indicates that the Wuling MINI EV led sales in the Chinese market with a remarkable volume of 31,222 units in February 2025. In fact, this figure not only represents the highest sales in the all-electric vehicle category, but also across all segments of the Chinese domestic market, including the three main branches of cars, crossovers, and MPVs.

The Wuling MINI EV’s strong sales performance in February returned it to the top of the list of China’s best-selling vehicles after a few months away from the top of the charts. For example, in January of this year, the MINI EV was the sixth best-selling vehicle with a total of 24,924 deliveries, which placed it behind several car models and a couple of crossovers such as the Tesla Model Y with 25,694 units sold that month.

1 Wuling MINI EV 31,222 56,146
2 Geely Geome Xingyuan 24,831 52,977
3 Xiaomi SU7 24,551 47,448
4 BYD Seagull 28,223 46,394
5 Volkswagen Sagitar 14,134 39,879

However, last month’s solid lead over all other competing models allowed the Wuling MINI EV to also top China’s overall sales tally with a cumulative total of 56,146 units in the first two months of 2025. So far, the all-electric mini car is more than 3,000 units ahead of the second-place – and best-selling in January – Geely Geome Xingyuan with 52,977 deliveries.

The Wuling MINI EV continues to wage a pitched battle to remain at the top of the Chinese domestic market, and is well positioned to continue its fight for sales leadership. The all-new 2025 second-gen Wuling MINI EV door was officially launched at the end of February, helping to boost registrations in the final days of the month and continuing to increase the model’s competitiveness for the remainder of the year. The new version joins the existing MINI EV family.

  1. Good for GM. I hope they make a nice profit on these cars sold in China. Must be pretty decent cars to be selling so many there.

  2. They are soooo missing the slow boat to China by not selling these here in beaucoup numbers. Ppl would trade their Tahoes and Duramaxes left and right to own one. COME ON AUNT MARY!

    1. I assume you’re kidding. Even if it were street legal in the United States, a vehicle that produces 40hp in its top trim is not likely to be a hit here. Max speed is about 60mph.

    2. It’s worth a look, but I’m not sure that, at 6’1″ in height, I’d fit in one.

  3. Perhaps in China, this one is called “a vehicle”. I thought that it was a Power Wheels model of some kind (a Barbie or Ken thing).
What if a Silverado would hit one of these? Name it: t-boned, rear-ended or side.
Realistically, this thing cannot go from Detroit Airport to the Illinois state line in one charge.
    Ridiculous.
