Would You Bid On This Bandit Edition 2024 GMC Hummer EV Heading To Auction?

The GMC Hummer EV Pickup is already a pretty showy car. However, if you want it to be even flashier and get even more attention, there’s a Bandit Edition of the 2024 GMC Hummer EV and it’s headed to auction, ready for a new owner.

For those readers who may not know, the 1977 Pontiac Firebird was made into an icon thanks to Burt Reynolds’ classic film Smokey and the Bandit, in which Reynolds plays Bo “The Bandit” Darville, a daredevil driver who wheels the Firebird as a “blocker” to draw attention away from a truck carrying an illegal load of beer across state lines.

As such, this 2024 GMC Hummer EV Pickup is outfitted with a wealth of decals that give a hat tip to the hero car from the film. Finished in black, the decals present a classic orange/gold finish and include the “Screaming Chicken” on the hood, plus gold exterior trim, including on the wheels (with 37-inch tires) and front recovery hooks. There are also “Outlaw” and “Bandit” decals added on various body panels. On the inside, a commemorative plaque on the dash reads “Outlaw EV Edition No. 1.”

Judging by the specs, this Hummer EV appears to be a 3X model with a 24-module battery pack. The Mecum says it’s a “1,000 HP EV,” and the tri-motor powertrain in the Hummer EV 3X produces 1,000 horsepower and a staggering 11,500 pound-feet of wheel torque with the optional bigger battery.

Although it’s not a high-mile car, we’re a little surprised that this unique Hummer has 11,890 miles on the clock. That means someone bought it and actually drove it almost 12,000 miles in about a year. Any Hummer EV is already not a typical daily driver, and a unique example like a Bandit Edition is even less so.

Even though a GMC Hummer EV Pickup has no connection at all to the Pontiac Firebird, the namesake of the Bandit branding, it still brings a pretty cool aesthetic to this electric pickup. Place your bid at the Mecum Glendale 2025 auction on March 21st.

  1. I wouldn’t bid on ANY Hummer EV. It’s an absurd vehicle that never should have seen the light of day (like the Celestiq).

    1. How dare people buy things you don’t approve of? There should be a law!

      1. LOL, this is what they are trying to do to prevent people from buying ICE!

        1. They aren’t preventing people from buying what ever they want. They are providing incentives to buy something else.

  2. No. I would not.

  3. The Hummer is a blast to drive, but the gold trim on this one looks terrible. I’d take it if I could get a big discount, then strip off the ugly

    1. Get some culture and watch “Smokey and the Bandit”

      1. The 1970s were a terrible era for cars. The were huge, slow, and ugly. 60s was much better.

        1. The 70s vehicles still had powerful engines, you just had to tune them.

  4. I love that they put ‘Bandit’ on the least ‘Bandit’ vehicle on the planet. All Buford T. Justice has to do is wait for you to pull over to plug it in – or call OnStar and have them turn it off and lock you in it. It’s like the person responsible for this saw the movie poster but never actually watched the movie.

    1. LOL, true. “We’ve got a long way to go and a short time to get there.” Let me stop and charge my over 9,000 lbs EV a few times for a few hours each.

      1. You mean 20 minutes. No one is charging 0-100 on a Trip.

    2. Don’t pay for OnStar Emergency Services and then this won’t work.

    1. A chick on the hood would be more fitting for this type of vehicle. What a disgrace to the legendary Bandit name.

    1. Wait a minute, I can’t park that thing close to my house, the company would cancel my fire insurance. I withdraw my bid.

  7. I’d rather have the Trans Am. Who buys a premium priced vehicle and puts $hit on it? It’s like a Hyundai Excel with an aftermarket vinyl roof and opera lights. That monster was parked outside my apartment for a month.

  8. What a disgrace, to the “Bandit”! That combination should have never been conceived.
