Watch Ron Fellows Have A Blast In The Snow Aboard The Corvette E-Ray: Video

With a hybrid powertrain and all-wheel grip, the Corvette E-Ray is a major departure from the traditional Chevy Corvette setup. The upshot is that the C8 E-Ray can go places that most Corvette models can’t – like the snow. Now, we’re watching as Ron Fellows hits a snow-covered race track in an E-Ray with the following video.

Corvette E-Ray drives on the snow.

For those folks who may be unaware, Ron Fellows is a Canadian racing driver and founder of the Ron Fellows Performance Driving School. Fellows is best known for his accomplishments in sports car racing and NASCAR, as well as his multiple victories in IMSA and SCCA Trans-Am road racing, the 24 Hours of Daytona, the 12 Hours of Sebring, and the 24 Hours of Le Mans, with long history of success in the Corvette Racing program.

Indeed, Fellows knows his way around a race track, especially from behind the wheel of a Corvette, making him the ideal candidate for the following video.

The video was recently posted by Chevrolet Canada, and shows Fellows waking up one dark morning after dreaming about the Corvette E-Ray. After climbing out of bed, we see Fellows glance outside as the radio mentions heavy snowfall the night before. Undeterred, the retired racing driver grabs some keys and heads out the door.

We next see Fellows climb into a Corvette E-Ray, a big smile already on his face. After venturing out into the cold morning, we see Fellows enter the Canadian Tire Motorsports Park, where a sign reads “Track Closed For Winter.” Clearly, Fellows isn’t going to slow down for that.

As the sun slowly rises in the background, Fellows slides the Corvette E-Ray around the snow-covered race track. The high-powered sports car churns at the white stuff underneath it, with a big spray of fluffy powder following in its wake. Despite the conditions, it looks as though the E-Ray is in its element.

As a reminder, the Corvette E-Ray is equipped with the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 LT2 gasoline engine, which is paired with a front-mounted electric motor to produce a combined 655 horsepower. The GM Y2 platform provides the underpinnings, while production takes place at the GM Bowling Green plant in Kentucky.

  2. Looks like fun! A snow plow should be a factory option on this car.
