This Aftermarket Add-On Eliminates Chevy Equinox EV Dashboard Glare

A number of Chevy Equinox EV owners have taken to social media to voice their frustration with a glare emanating from the crossover’s dashboard, which can obstruct the view out the windshield for the driver. Notably, some owners have also filed a complaint with the NHTSA. Luckily, there’s already a solution already on offer from the aftermarket.

Looking over a recent post to the Equinox EV subreddit, owners complain that the dash glare can be a major issue while driving during the day. Some users have posted photos of the glare, as seen from the driver’s seat. Multiple posts on the issue have been made thus far. The issue is so prevalent, the NHTSA has received several complaints, with owners saying that the glare makes it difficult to see the road, oncoming traffic, and pedestrians.

In response, aftermarket auto parts company VoltStuff is now offering a new Chevy Equinox EV DashPad specifically designed to eliminate the dash glare issue. The pad is made from automotive carpet and sits on top of the crossover’s plastic dash, and, according to VoltStuff, “eliminates the glare completely” when opting for the black finish. The pad is also available in a gray color called Graphite, which is said to reduce the glare by roughly 90 percent.

The VoltStuff Equinox EV DashPad is available in two configurations, including an option that accommodates a head-up display, and an option without it. The pad also includes cutouts for all of the vents and various indicators. To install the pad, users can simply place the pad on top of the dash and tuck the front in. The pad also includes two-sided non marking tape in case it needs to be secured further. Pricing is set $35.

We reached out to Chevy asking if it’s working on a fix for the Equinox EV dash glare issue. We have yet to receive a reply.

The Chevy Equinox EV is offered as the Bow Tie brand’s entry-level all-electric vehicle, offering both a single-motor and dual-motor configurations. The GM BEV3 platform provides the underpinnings, while production takes place at the GM Ramos Arizpe plant in Mexico.
