This 2025 GMC Sierra 1500 Paint Color Gets Expanded Availability

The 2025 GMC Sierra 1500 drops in with only a few small changes compared to the preceding 2024 model year, the highlights of which include a mildly updated list of exterior color options. While the total number of exterior paint options as been reduced, one color is now offered with greater availability.

The paint option in question is called Downpour Metallic and is tagged with paint code GXP, offering customers a rich, blue hue for the pickup’s exterior.

Previously limited to the Denali and Denali Ultimate trims, the Downpour Metallic paint option is now available for the Elevation trim level as well. Pricing for Downpour Metallic is set at $495 for Elevation, Denali, and Denali Ultimate trims.

In total, the 2025 GMC Sierra 1500 offers a palette of nine exterior paint options, including (relevant pant codes included in parentheses):

  • Cardinal Red (G7C)
  • Downpour Metallic (GXP)
  • Onyx Black (GBA)
  • Sterling Metallic (GXD)
  • Summit White (GAZ)
  • Thunderstorm Gray (GNO)
  • Titanium Rush Metallic (G6M)
  • Volcanic Red Tintcoat (GNT)
  • White Frost Tricoat (G1W)

To note, the 2025 model year no longer offers two colors previously offered for the 2024 model year, namely Dynamic Blue Metallic (paint code GLT) and Deep Bronze Metallic (paint code GXN). Check out our previous coverage for more information on the 2025 GMC Sierra paint options.

Pricing for the 2025 Sierra 1500 lineup starts at $40,295, which will get you the base-level Pro trim, a Regular Cab / Standard Box body configuration, rear-wheel drive, and the turbocharged four-cylinder engine. At the high end, the AT4X AEV Edition starts at $89,790, and includes a Crew Cab / Short Box setup, four-wheel drive, and the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 engine.

The 2025 GMC Sierra 1500 offers four powertrain options total, including the TurboMax turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine, the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine, the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine, and finally, the 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax. All model variants are underpinned by the GM T1 platform, while production takes place at the GM Fort Wayne Assembly plant in Indiana and the GM Silao Assembly plant in Mexico.

  1. I love that blue but must have the bright shiny wheels to really set it off. The black wheels make it look dull and dirty.

  2. Glad to see the GMC line is offering the metallic opulent colors yet, unlike the Silverado line going to the monolithic colors. Those monolithic colors do not do much for me, but each to their own. The Chevy Cypress green color, that Chevy promotes, reminds me of a polished army truck. PU

    1. Yeah and the nonmetallic gray looks like gloss primer or battleship paint.

  3. Hope it’s more durable than the white frost tri-coat paint. I’ve been skeptical about buying another GMC vehicle since the paint on my 2014 Sierra began to peel within the first 4 years of ownership. I filed a complaint with GMC and notified the dealership and no action was taken to solve the problem.
