These Strange Facebook Ads Are Trying To Sell A Non-Existent Chevy Montana

A GM Authority reader recently spotted a series of bizarre Facebook ads that appear to advertise a Chevy Montana pickup for sale in the U.S. The ads claim to lead to pricing information for the vehicle, seemingly targeting U.S. customers. The problem? The Chevy Montana isn’t sold in the United States, and GM has no plans to bring it stateside, either.

A weird ad for a Chevy Montana targeting U.S. buyers.

One of the ads features an image of a pickup on a dealership floor, but upon closer inspection, the truck doesn’t actually match any real-life Montana model. In fact, the image appears to be AI-generated, and the vehicle pictured lacks many of the design cues presented by the first-, second-, or third-generation Montana.

The second image shows a truck parked on a street, and while it does look a bit closer to a first-generation Montana, neither image supports the claim that the Montana is available for purchase in the U.S. To note, the Chevy Montana is currently sold in Mexico and any South American country in which Chevrolet currently maintains a business presence.

For those unfamiliar, the Chevy Montana is a compact unibody pickup, with the latest third-generation model officially revealed in Brazil late in 2022, marking a major update over its predecessor. Highlights include the GM VSS-F platform, the same vehicle set that underpins the Chevy Trax, Chevy Trailblazer, Buick Envista, and Buick Encore GX, and it is powered by the turbocharged 1.2L I3 L4H gasoline engine.

For now, GM has not announced any intentions to introduce the Montana to the U.S. market, which leaves these odd Facebook ads with no credibility whatsoever.

The actual third-gen Chevy Montana

So, to set the record straight – no, the Chevy Montana isn’t available in the U.S., and no, it isn’t coming here anytime soon. Indeed, the Facebook ads shown above appear to be misleading clickbait, rather than legitimate sources of information. Our suggestion? If you want a small GM truck in the U.S., consider options like the Chevy Colorado or GMC Canyon.

  4. The 3rd generation Montana is attractive. Should be sold with a 4 cylinder option in US. Great competitor for the Ford Maverick.

  5. Would be a nice alternative to a Maverick. That is why you’ll never see it sold in the US. Just like those vehicles built by the Germans, Japanese and Koreans that are not sold by GM, Ford, or Stellantis. I remember them being called CARS!!!
