A new video has surfaced on social media showing a gutted Chevy SS left abandoned on the streets of Oakland, California.
The 22-second clip appears to have been filmed by a bystander walking through the neighborhood, capturing the poor Chevy sedan after thieves had torn out a laundry list of valuable parts.
The video opens to immediately show the stripped-down Chevy SS, which appears as though it is precariously perched on a jack or cinder block beneath the frame rails. Although it’s not totally obvious, the sedan looks as though it’s sitting in the middle of a traffic lane in a neighborhood, though it’s unclear whether it was left there by thieves or if it was stripped at that location.
Either way, the once-powerful performance sedan, which is covered in vibrant Orange Blast paint, has been thoroughly scavenged for parts. As the camera moves up and down the body, we see a variety of missing components, including all four wheels, the front bumper, the front fenders, the hood, and even the engine.
It remains uncertain how or when the thieves found the car, but given the extent of the stripping, they likely removed the most valuable parts before leaving the shell behind.
While major components have been taken, the thieves also left behind several other parts, suggesting they were only after high-value items like the wheels, body panels, and powertrain. The Chevy SS is already a relatively rare sight on U.S. streets, making the scene all the more unfortunate.

For readers who may be unaware, GM offered the U.S.-spec Chevy SS between the 2014 and 2017 model years. Based on the Australian Holden Commodore VF, the sedan featured the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 LS3 gasoline engine and was rated at 415 horsepower and 415 pound-feet, delivering impressive performance wrapped in a rather understated package. All this makes the Chevy SS a highly sought-after modern classic among enthusiasts – and car thieves.

Just another example of California rot….
There is no concrete evidence that the vehicle was stolen. Re read the article. Where I live in MAGA country, cars like this are all over the place with many in front yards.
Oakland has always been rot! Function of the people that live there.
There is no specific evidence of criminality here. Re read the article. In MAGA Country where I live, vehicles in this condition are all around town and in the country. Many are in front yards.
Really too bad about the SS, they are a bit rare. Most people don’t strip their own car and leave it somewhere. Logic would dictate it was stolen and stripped regardless of ‘no specific evidence or criminality.’ As far as GP and Don go, if you guys live in California might be time to leave as your love for CA came through pretty clearly here.
