Some 2024 Chevy Silverado EV Units Need New Trailering And Certification Labels

The 2024 Chevy Silverado EV is the subject of a new Service Update from GM relating to incorrect trailering and certification labels that were applied to the trucks at the time of production.

According to Service Update number N242486100, the affected 2024 Chevy Silverado EV pickups have an incorrect VIN and other incorrect information on both the trailering label and certification label.

GM dealer service personnel are instructed to replace the trailering and certification labels on affected Chevy Silverado EV trucks. The fix is available free of charge to owners up to the end of the specific vehicle unit’s New Vehicle Limited Warranty period, and is also to be applied to Silverado EV trucks currently in dealer inventory.

New labels must be ordered using VIN information from the affected Silverado EV. There are different ordering instructions for U.S. and Canadian dealers to obtain the necessary replacement labels. The original label must be fully removed according to the instructions before the new label is applied.

It’s unclear at this time how many units are affected by this issue.

The first trim level of the 2024 Silverado EV to become available, the RST First Edition, was powered by GM battery technology and GM drive motors, developing maximum output of 754 horsepower and 785 pound-feet of torque when in the Wide Open Watts or “WOW” mode.

The instant torque of the electric motors plus an all-wheel drivetrain allowed the RST First Edition to accelerate from zero to 60 mph in approximately 4.5 seconds. The driving range rating for a single charge was set at 440 miles. Meanwhile, while pricing for the RST First Edition started at $96,495.
