Silverado ZR2 1500 With Faux Carbon Fiber Cab Wrap Actually Works: Poll

When it comes to custom vehicle modifications, everyone is entitled to their opinion – if it’s your vehicle, you should modify it how you want, right? Nevertheless, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and some styling mods simply don’t work for some folks. Faux carbon fiber is one good example of this, with enthusiasts and automakers alike applying carbon-esque wraps to all manner of car components to capture some sort of sporty new appeal, while others deride the practice as chintzy and ugly. Nevertheless, the owner of this particular Silverado ZR2 1500 took it upon themselves to wrap their cabin in faux carbon, and the end result is, well – we think it actually looks pretty good.

Looking at the truck from multiple angles, the wrap is appears as though it applied with a good degree of precision. It stretches from the base of the A-pillar, across the roofline, and down the trailing edge of the rear cab section. The dark finish blends well with the tinted windows, black mirror caps, black door handles, and black shark fin antenna, while the faux carbon material also contrasts nicely with the light gray paint, giving the vehicle a sporty, performance-oriented edge without straying too far from its rugged ZR2 DNA.

One of the more notable applications of the wrap is at the rear edge of the hood insert, right where it meets the windshield. Often overlooked in similar wrap jobs, this subtle yet visible section was carefully covered, continuing the carbon theme seamlessly.

The blacked-out trim and red 6.2L badge also pair well with the wrap’s dark, textured finish.

Of course, faux carbon fiber isn’t for everyone. In motorsport and high-end supercars, real carbon fiber serves a very clear and highly functional purpose, and on this Silverado ZR2, the visual imitation is obviously purely cosmetic.

Either way, we’re digging it.

But what do you think? Does the carbon fiber-style wrap work on this Silverado ZR2 1500? Vote in the poll below and let us know!

  1. I saw a white with black roof via a wrap 2500 HD crew cab at a gas station. I complimented the owner of the truck on how nice it looked. It use to be, a solid color truck was considered a vanilla.

  2. We were doing that when the 1992 Suburban came out. Black suede over all the pillars all the way around. Looked clean.
