Rapper Paul Wall Put 24-Inch Wheels On Chevy Tahoe 20 Years Before GM Did: Video

As GM Authority was the first to uncover, General Motors is offering a range of 24-inch wheel options for the 2025 Chevy Tahoe, marking the first time in the nameplate’s history in which 24s are available from the factory. While this is a major milestone for GM, Tahoe enthusiasts have been outfitting their vehicles with plus-sized aftermarket wheels for decades. In fact, rapper Paul Wall showcased 24-inch wheels on a Chevy Tahoe 20 years before GM officially did it.

Back in 2005, Paul Wall released his breakthrough album, People’s Champ, featuring the song “Sittin’ Sidewayz.” The song’s lyrics include a direct reference to rolling on 24-inch wheels in a Chevy Tahoe:

“In the Tahoe on 24s, I’m the truth, I got that glow”

While the Tahoe in question isn’t visible in the official “Sittin’ Sidewayz” music video, the video does prominently feature a range of GM vehicles, including Cadillacs, Buicks, and even a Chevy Avalanche. The video also includes a cameo from Houston rapper Big Pokey, who, sadly, passed away in 2023 due to a heart attack.

Now, two decades after Paul Wall’s lyrical flex, Chevy is finally offering 24-inch wheels from the factory. The 2025 Chevy Tahoe features multiple 24-inch wheel designs, including:

  • Painted Carbon Flash Metallic 24-inch wheels (RPO code RF1), available as an option for the RST trim
  • Bright machined 24-inch wheels with painted High Gloss Black accents (RPO code RF2), optional for the High Country trim
  • Bright Chrome 24-inch wheels, available on RST and High Country trims (RPO code 5FF)
  • 24-inch Black wheel option (RPO code 5FG), also available on the RST and High Country trims

Per the latest mid-cycle refresh, the 2025 Chevy Tahoe continues to offer three powertrain options, including, the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine, the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine, and the new-for-2025 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax engine, the latter of which replaces the LM2 Duramax offered previously.

As was the case prior, the 2025 Chevy Tahoe rides on the GM T1 platform, with production taking place at the GM Arlington plant in Texas.
