British racing driver Katherine Legge is set to compete in the NASCAR Cup Series at Phoenix on March 9th, 2025, piloting the No. 78 Chevy for Live Fast Motorsports. Her entry into the event marks the first time a woman has raced at NASCAR’s highest level since Danica Patrick competed in the 2018 Daytona 500.
Legge has extensive motorsports experience, specializing in sportscar and open-wheel racing. She is one of only nine women who have competed in the famous Indy 500, setting the record for the fastest qualifying lap by a woman during the 2023 running of the event. She was also the first woman to win a major open-wheel race, scoring the IndyCar victory at Long Beach in 2005. She also boasts several podium finishes in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and has raced in the Rolex 24 at Daytona, along with a run in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.
While the forthcoming race at Phoenix will be Katherine Legge’s first attempt at a Cup Series race, it’s not her first in a NASCAR national series. She has prior starts in the Xfinity Series as well. Her best finish in the division is a 14th-place result at Road America in 2018.
“Entering the NASCAR Cup Series is a dream come true,” said Legge in a team release. “I’m excited to team up with Live Fast Motorsports for Phoenix, and to represent our sponsors DROPLiGHT and Sherfick Companies. Racing stockcars has been an incredibly fun and new challenge that’s given me a renewed sense of vigor for this sport. As always, I’m grateful for the opportunity to do what I love and am inspired by all of the effort, preparation and behind the scenes work it takes to get here.”
Live Fast Motorsports Co-Owner & CEO Jessica McLeod said, “We’re happy to partner with Katherine for this race. The opportunity to have such a versatile and dynamic championship winning driver join our program is exciting for everyone on our team. This partnership reflects our commitment to providing opportunities for drivers making their way into the NASCAR Cup series in the Next Gen era.”

What about that hot Lebanese racer? Toni Breidinger?
She is full time in the Truck Series
Looks don’t win races, as Danica demonstrated.
If these gals can run with the best, then have at it and show the boys how it’s done! But remember if you want your place you need to earn it, not everyone gets the checkered flag every week.
Good to see someone come into the sport for other reasons than nepotism.
She hasn’t even qualified yet the race is on Sunday. How do you post an article like this
The field will not be full and even if it was she’d get the provisional and be able to race anyway. Who hurt you?
How fragile does your ego and masculinity have to be to get bothered by this article lol? Katherine is a great driver and I support anything to make Nascar more interesting and appeal to a broader audience.
She’s a DEI Hire. Get her out NASCAR.
There are a lot of male NASCAR drivers that should be shown the door.
Bubba is 1 of them
There you go again! Get a life. GEEZ!
Whats Dale Earnhardt Incorporated got to do with anything? /s
