The GMC Acadia has received an overall crash test rating of “Acceptable” from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). While the full-size, three-row crossover performed well in several key safety areas, a “Marginal” headlight rating ultimately prevented it from clinching a spot on the IIHS Top Safety Pick list. Interestingly, the Acadia’s platform mate, the Chevy Traverse, did manage to secure a Top Safety Pick designation, while the Buick Enclave received a “Good” rating.
The Acadia performed well in most crash tests, with ratings of “Good” in several key categories, including the small overlap front test and updated side impact test. The crossover also returned an “Acceptable” rating in the updated moderate overlap front test.
While the majority of the moderate overlap front test results returned a “Good” rating, the rear passenger restraints and dummy kinematics results returned a rating of “Marginal,” thus bringing the overall moderate overlap front evaluation down to “Acceptable.”
Vehicle-to-vehicle crash prevention was rated as “Good,” while front pedestrian crash prevention was rated as “Acceptable.” In the updated side impact test, the Acadia scored a rating of “Acceptable” in the structure and safety cage evaluation and “Acceptable” in the driver pelvis injury measure evaluation, while the rest of the evaluations returned “Good” results.

That all said, headlight performance was a notable weak point for the GMC Acadia. The model features LED projector headlights across all trims, as well as high-beam assist, a feature that automatically adjusts between high and low beams based on oncoming traffic. However, the headlights lack curve-adaptive lighting, and the low beams create some glare, which may have impacted the overall rating.
As a reminder, the latest third-gen GMC Acadia is powered by a turbocharged 2.5L I4 LK0 engine, rated at 328 horsepower and 326 pound-feet of torque. The crossover rides on the GM C1 platform, with production taking place at the GM Lansing Delta Township plant in Michigan.

Well if the new Honda products got a GO rating on there headlights I would say the IIHS has no clue of what they are doing. Every Civic and Accord totally blinds me when I am driving and I almost crash. I think there should be a massive review of headlights on cars.
All new HID and LED headlights blind me. Very bad for safety. How did we get to this point!!!!!!
