How To Use The 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ Power Open/Close Doors: Video

The 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ marks the first fully electric production vehicle to wear the iconic Escalade nameplate. As expected from Cadillac’s flagship EV SUV, the Escalade IQ incorporates an array of premium features designed to enhance convenience, comfort, and functionality. Among these are power-operated doors (RPO code APD), equipped as standard on Luxury 2 and Sport 2 trim levels (not offered on Luxury 1 or Sport 1). Now, Cadillac has released a demonstration video explaining how to operate the Escalade IQ power open/close doors.

To open a door from the outside of the 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ, users simply need to press the button embedded inside the door handle. The system offers three customizable opening levels – maximum, mid, and slight – giving users the ability to adjust how far the door swings open based on personal preference or space constraints. The rear doors operate in the same way as the front doors.

To close the doors from the outside, users can press the button again to activate the automatic close function. From inside the vehicle, users can lift the inside door handle to close it. Of course, the doors can also be closed manually, just like a standard vehicle door. Additionally, Cadillac has integrated obstacle detection sensors within the door handle area in order to ensure safety. These sensors recognize potential obstructions such as walls, parked vehicles, or pedestrians. If an obstacle is detected while a door is opening or closing, the system automatically stops movement to prevent damage or injury.

Users can manually lock and unlock the doors on the 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ by pressing and holding the Cadillac emblem embedded in the door handle for about a second. The vehicle’s exterior lights will flash to confirm that the doors have been successfully locked or unlocked.

Inside the 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ, Cadillac offers an additional convenience feature called Brake to Close. When this function is activated, the driver can simply press the brake pedal to automatically close the door, eliminating the need to reach for the door handle before driving away. The front command center screen will automatically switch to the power doors control interface whenever a door is opened or closed, providing an intuitive way to monitor and manage the system.

Additional settings for the power doors can be accessed through the vehicle’s touchscreen, allowing owners to fine-tune features such as the child safety locks, power window lockout, and rear liftgate adjustments. The touchscreen also enables complete control over the vehicle’s doors through the Doors menu.

There’s even more to learn about this useful feature, so check out the full how-to video below:

The full-size Cadillac Escalade IQ SUV features a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system capable of producing up to 750 horsepower and 785 pound-feet of torque in Velocity Max mode, with an estimated range of 460 miles on a full charge. Vehicle takes place at the GM Factory Zero facility in Michigan, while the GM BT1 platform provides the bones.

    1. Its pretty lame, but I still agree Cadillac needs these sort of features across their line up. A lot of other luxury and tech auto brands are including these sort of features and Cadillac shouldn’t be left behind (despite how stupid the feature may be).

  2. Seems like those expensive features take longer than just doing it yourself.

  4. It’s funny that GM has to throw in stupid tech gizmos to get people to look at this ugly monstrosity. Put lipstick on a pig it’s still a pig.

  5. The early 2025 Escalade Platinums were shipped with out the power doors software. Cadillac said they would notify me when the software is available and I am getting tired of waiting.

  6. yes, picked up my custom ordered escalade Premium Luxury Platinum 3 weeks ago and it has the power doors but it stated the vehicle was awaiting a computer update before activating. Anyone know when this is projected to activate. Same thing on the new surround cameras uploading to the internet. they are in and working but not connected to internet yet. However I did get the Executive Package prior to it going on constraints.

  7. Wow.
How much will it cost to fix when a door sensor goes out or goes crazy and just keeps opening the door or refuses to open the door.
    Won’t be cheap!
I would order it though if I were getting this vehicle! LOL
