Hertz Is Giving Away A Used 2023 Cadillac XT5 Signed By Tom Brady: Video

Hertz is reminding everyone that it’s not just a rental company. It also sells cars. To get the word out, Hertz is running a promotion giving away a used 2023 Cadillac XT5 signed by NFL legend Tom Brady.

“Hertz sells cars?” Tom Brady rhetorically asks in the promotional video below. “Hertz sells cars!” the seven-time Super Bowl champ exclaims. “Enter today for a chance to win this beauty.”

Why an XT5, and why Tom Brady? That is unclear. Presumably, this Cadillac XT5 being given away is a retired rental vehicle. Hertz offers the XT5 alongside the Cadillac Escalade as part of its Prestige Collection of rentable luxury vehicles. Renters often get a Cadillac XT5 when they reserve a “Medium Luxury SUV.”

The contest is running from March 4th through April 14th. If you give Hertz your name, email address, phone number, and ZIP code, you’ll be entered to win this rental-spec Cadillac XT5 bearing Tom Brady’s autograph.

As of this writing, Hertz has 101 Cadillac XT5 units available for sale, and it appears that all of them are in the Premium Luxury trim. Pricing ranges from $26,000 for a 2023 model with 65,070 miles on it up to $42,400 for a 2024 model with 7,840 miles on the clock. Most of Hertz’s XT5 listings have the “Good Price” or “Great Price” label from Kelley Blue Book, meaning its price tag is at or below the KBB Fair Market Range.

Hertz also has CT4, CT5, XT4, and XT6 models for sale, but no Escalades. Incidentally, the dominant brand in Hertz’s car sales offerings is Chevy. It has a whole lot of Malibu sedans (over 16,000 of them) looking for new homes at bargain prices. Hertz has more Malibus for sale than all of its Nissans combined.

As for Tom Brady’s own history with GM ownership, the quarterback famously owned a heavily customized fourth-generation Cadillac Escalade ESV, which he sold in 2020. Customized by Becker Automotive Design, Brady’s Escalade was a pseudo-limousine stretched an extra 20 inches longer than the Escalade ESV and was filled with luxuries like reclining electric seats in the back that faced each other, a 32-inch TV, and wooden tray tables. It was like a private jet for the road.
