Here’s How Much The 2025 Cadillac Optiq Can Tow

Bringing an entry-level electric vehicle to the Caddy stable, the all-new 2025 Cadillac Optiq is a relatively affordable model that nevertheless offers luxurious features to its occupants. Here, GM Authority is putting its towing capacity under the microscope.

Looking at the powertrain that is the basis for all towing capability, the 2025 Cadillac Optiq makes use of GM batteries and dual GM Drive motors for propulsion. The EV crossover’s dual-motor setup develops 300 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque for all trim levels, including the Luxury 1, Sport 1, Luxury 2 and Sport 2 trims.

The 2025 Cadillac Optiq has all-wheel drive (AWD) thanks to its twin motors powering all four wheels at once.

Now that you have a snapshot of the Optiq powertrain, the following table shows the towing capacities for all variants of the 2025 model year crossover:

Sport 1AWD1,500 / 680
Luxury 2AWD1,500 / 680
Sport 2AWD1,500 / 680

As this information makes clear, the 2025 Cadillac Optiq can tow 1,500 pounds (680 kilograms) regardless of trim or other configuration details.

Every Optiq trim level is equipped as standard with the following towing-related features (RPO codes in parenthesis):

  • Trailering provisions with 4-wire electrical harness and 4-pin sealed connector (V92)
  • Hitch Guidance trailering assist guideline (CTT)
  • Hitch View providing an isolated view of the trailer’s hitch (PZ8)

A related option – which is LPO or dealer-installed – includes the removable trailer hitch (RPO code SFE) and trailer hitch ball cover (RPO code 5Y4), with a price of $895 extra.

GM has a set of standard towing recommendations in the 2025 Optiq owner’s manual. Among these, the first 500 miles that a new Optiq crossover is driven should be without any towing at all, to prevent damage to the motors or other components. After this break-in period, the vehicle should be driven at or under 50 miles per hour while towing for another 500 miles, while avoiding full-throttle starts.

Ordinary loads can be towed when in Drive mode. However, those close to the maximum towing capacity should be towed in Tow/Haul mode, if available.

When equipped with a trailer, the 2025 Optiq may automatically detect this fact and shut down certain advanced driver assistance (ADAS) features. If not, the following ADAS technology – if present on the vehicle – should be turned off while towing:

  1. The Optiq is really a sharp looking Cadillac. I have to see one of these beauties in person.

    1. I just saw one. Yawn. Another boring SUV. Putting a trailer hitch on it doesn’t do anything. Other than to fool the owner into thinking that they can actually use it for towing, and go cross country. Hint. Most Cadillac owners, like myself, don’t buy said product for towing.
