Here’s How Much The 2025 Buick Envista Can Tow

The 2025 Buick Envista subcompact crossover is just the second model year for the freshly-introduced, first-generation nameplate in North America. Classified as a utility vehicle, some new or potential owners might be wondering just how much the Envista can tow.

The answer is straightforward and found in the 2025 Buick Envista owner’s manual itself – the bantam crossover has a towing capacity of zero pounds, and shouldn’t be used to haul anything at all.

Page 186 of the 2025 Buick Envista manual contains a Warning box with the clear instruction: “Never tow a trailer with your vehicle. It was not designed or intended to tow a trailer.” Several other Buick crossovers offer more towing capacity than the Envista does, so if the ability to haul a trailer is an important buying consideration, customers should consider these alternatives.

For those needing only a small amount of towing capability, the 2025 Buick Encore GX is able to haul up to 1,000 pounds, enough for a light trailer or one of the minimalistic campers currently available. If vehicle size is not an obstacle, the 2025 Buick Enclave – which debuts the model’s third generation – can handle 1,500 pounds of towing, or 5,000 pounds when equipped with the optional Trailering Package (RPO code V92) for $650.

The 2025 Buick Envista sets itself apart from the first model year with two tech features being made standard and the introduction of a new E85-compatible engine. The crossover has a total of eight available exterior paint colors on offer for the current model year, while interior colorways are somewhat more limited with a total of five choices. The Envista rides on four different wheel styles, three standard to trim levels and one optional.

As previously mentioned, the 2025 Buick Envista is equipped with a new E85-compatible engine – namely, the turbocharged 1.2L I3 LBP gasoline engine. This replaces the previous turbocharged 1.2L I3 LIH. The LBP boasts the same output as the LIH, rated at 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque. However, it can operate on E85 fuel, making the crossover a flex-fuel model.

The 2025 Buick Envista continues to ride on the same GM VSS-F platform found under the sheet metal of the first model year. Production takes place at the GM Bupyeong plant in South Korea.

    1. Gregory: You are wrong. A friend recently bought a loaded 2025 Envista Avenir and is very happy with it. His credentials? He’s an active “A” ( highest level) GM dealership mechanic with over 50 years’ experience. Extensive Corvette, truck and passenger car repair background. He was concerned about the 3 cylinder but after test drives, close inspection for fit, finish, interior accoutrements, having it on the rack and proclaiming that it’s damn peppy and ear pleasing, he bought the Buick Envista Avenir. Loves the fact that it has a 6 speed automatic rather than a CVT trans. Oh, BTW his Sunday driver is a 2025 Chevrolet SS ( sedan) with the six speed manual trans. Suffice to say he knows his stuff.

  2. Question … Why can the Chevy Trax (basically same platform) tow 1,200 pounds and the Buick is not allowed to tow ? I’m in the market for a LS Trax with the package that give your the better wheels an heated seats. Waiting for the right one to show up at the local dealer.
