Here Is 2025 GMC Model Parts Content By Country

These days, vehicle production is a global affair. To stay competitive, automakers source components from a variety of different sources, including many suppliers outside the U.S. This includes models assembled domestically, as well. Now, as the Trump administration continues to threaten ever-higher tariffs on some the U.S.’ biggest trading partners, automakers are forced to take additional costs into consideration. Now, we’re taking a closer look at the GMC model parts content, breaking it down by the source country.

The front three-quarters of the GMC Acadia.

First up is the Acadia, which is assembled in the United States and contains 36 percent U.S./Canada parts content, while 24 percent of its components come from Mexico. The 2025 GMC Canyon, also U.S.-built, has a slightly higher reliance on domestic sourcing, with 49 percent U.S./Canada parts content and 25 percent coming from Mexico.

The 2025 GMC Sierra 1500 is interesting, as units are assembled at both GM’s Fort Wayne (Indiana) and Silao (Mexico) plants, and as such, parts sourcing varies accordingly. While all Sierra 1500 trims feature 37 percent U.S./Canada parts content and 37 parts Mexican parts content, whether or not the engine or transmission is sourced from the U.S. or Mexico varies between the final assembly location and the engine in question.

The 2025 GMC Terrain is assembled in Mexico, and includes 49 percent Mexican parts content, with just 15 percent of its parts coming from the U.S. and Canada. The 2025 GMC Yukon, a full-size SUV assembled in the United States, maintains 37 percent U.S./Canada parts content and 37 percent Mexican parts content, a similar distribution to the Sierra 1500. All of its engine options (L84, L87, and LZ0) are built in the U.S., along with the transmission.

It’s important to note that U.S. and Canadian parts content is combined here, with data on individual parts sourcing between the two nations unavailable, reflecting the strong integration of North American supply chains under the USMCA trade agreement.

Additionally, the percentages in the table do not add up to 100 percent, with some parts originating from other, unspecified countries.

Looking over the numbers, the takeaway is clear – any sort of tariff on parts or materials will likely have a major impact on GM’s costs, and as a result, increase vehicle pricing for the consumer.

  1. Disappointing that the Tundra, Ridgeline, and Pilot offer greater than or equal to the home team’s part content. How can those vehicles have business case success with much more US/Canadian content?

    1. So a basic 1500 costs $85k. Ignorance is bliss and you are blindly naive. They are compliant with existing trade agreements. You can’t just disrupt suppliers and move billions of dollars of factories overnight. It’s a 10 year process. If customers have to pay a 25% tariff, GM won’t make it 10 years.

  8. Competition will keep GM from raising prices. It just means reduced profits for Mary and company. Your price won’t change much. There is diminishing returns on price increases when competition surrounds you
