GMC Yukon Driver Leads Arkansas State Police On Wild High-Speed Chase: Video

An insane high-speed police chase video has hit the web, showing a dramatic pursuit across Arkansas. The driver initially flees from Arkansas State Police (ASP) in a GMC Yukon, but later abandons the SUV and steals a Ford F-350 and trailer at gunpoint, continuing the chase before crashing and attempting to escape on foot. Police apprehend the driver a short while later, and after it was all said and done, the driver was sentenced to more than 50 years in prison.

The pursuit unfolded on May 9th, 2023, when Arkansas State Police attempted to stop a GMC Yukon on Interstate 555 for improper registration. Rather than pulling over, the driver opts to accelerate, initiating an extended high-speed chase. Authorities later confirmed that the GMC Yukon had been stolen in Jackson County, Arkansas.

As captured by the police video, the GMC driver is seen braking heavily to avoid a PIT maneuver performed by pursuing officers, then crosses the highway median and travels down the opposing lane at high speed. Later, the driver crashes through a security fence and opts to abandon the GMC Yukon outright.

After abandoning the Yukon, the driver then steals a Ford F-350 and trailer at gunpoint. Police immediately re-initiate the chase, with officers from multiple law enforcement agencies joining the pursuit, including ASP and the Jonesboro Police Department.

Despite towing a trailer, the driver continues to evade multiple Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI) attempts. However, the intense pursuit eventually comes to an end after the driver loses control and crashes the Ford into a water-filled ditch.

After fleeing on foot, the driver was eventually captured in a nearby neighborhood. Sentencing included 480 months for theft by receiving, greater than or equal to $25,000, plus 180 months for fleeing in a vehicle or conveyance with substantial danger of causing death.
