Some GM users may have noticed connectivity issues between their Apple Watch and General Motors’ various branded apps, including myBuick, myChevrolet, myCadillac, and myGMC. General Motors is aware of the issue and says that it is actively working on a fix. However, until the fix is finalized, the automaker has opted to suspend access between Apple Watches and the myApps suite.
According to a recent in-app notice, the pause will only affect Apple Watch users. General Motors states that if you don’t use the watch app, there will be no change to your current myApp experience. The automaker also emphasizes that access suspension is not permanent, and that users will be notified when the feature has been fully restored.
“Our highest priority is delivering the best vehicle ownership experience possible, and we appreciate your patience as we continue to improve,” the notice reads.
It’s currently unclear when a fix will be rolled out and when connectivity between Apple Watch users and the suite of GM myApps will be restored.
GM’s myApps suite has provided Apple Watch users with access to a variety of features for years now, including remote vehicle functions such as remote door locking and unlocking, remote vehicle start/stop, and remote activation of the vehicle horn and lights.
In recent years, General Motors has added additional functionality to the myApps suite to support EV-specific features as well, including battery status updates, energy assist notifications, plug-in reminders, route planning, and charger location services.
The suite of General Motors myApps is available for iOS devices via the Apple App Store and Android devices via the Google Play store.
In related news, General Motors opted to drop the Ultifi brand back in June. Ultifi was originally intended for use by the automaker’s end-to-end software platform. The automaker later dropped the Ultifi brand as a means of avoiding “overbranding.” That said, a company spokesperson clarified that the automaker would continue to work on its vehicle-defined software, and that while the Ultifi brand was no longer in use, the software platform would continue to develop.

Oh sweet, yet even more surveillance from your car and data that gm can sell without your consent.
🙄
If GM would just give us EV owners CarPlay, I would be content. Then I could use Apple Maps, which sends all directions, ETAs and more to the watch.
And who the heck uses any kind of map app on a 1 inch screen? Wow.
