GM Releases Fix For 2024 Chevy Equinox EV Sunroof Wiring Issue

The 2024 Chevy Equinox EV is the subject of a new General Motors service update offering a remedy for a sunroof wiring issue in which the sunroof jumper harness is not fully protected.

As described by GM Service Update number N242486200, the fuse in some units of the 2024 Chevy Equinox EV crossover does not protect the sunroof jumper harness wiring as it is supposed to.

The specific cause for the issue is that some affected 2024 Chevy Equinox EV units were produced with an undersized sunroof pigtail wire connecting the harness to the fuse. Since the fuse is larger, the wire is apparently exposed and could suffer damage at some point. As a reminder, the power sunroof (RPO code CAJ) was a standalone option on the 2LT, 3LT, 2RS and 3RS trim levels of the 2024 Equinox. It didn’t equip the introductory 2024 Equinox EV RS Launch Edition units.

It is unclear at this time how many units of the 2024 Chevy Equinox EV are affected by this issue. The available fix consists of replacing the fuse and fuse cover with new components that fully protect the wiring pigtail from the sunroof jumper harness. It is available free of charge to the owner until the end of the crossover’s New Vehicle Limited Warranty period.

The 2024 Equinox EV was powered by a combination of GM battery and GM drive motor technologies for all trim levels. The crossover was produced in two different drivetrain configurations, namely front-wheel drive with a single motor and all-wheel drive with a dual-motor setup.

When it came to performance, FWD units provided output amounting to 210 horsepower and 242 pound-feet of torque, while AWD units developed 290 horsepower and 346 pound-feet of torque.

As a reminder, the Chevy Equinox EV rides on the GM BEV3 platform. Production for the North American market takes place at the GM Ramos Arizpe plant in Mexico.

  2. I am in the market for a new vehicle. I like the Equinox but will not buy a made in Mexico vehicle. Bring the production back to the USA and all will be good.
