General Motors just donated a new 2024 Chevy Corvette Z06 Convertible to the Automotive Technology program at the Brookdale Community College in New Jersey, providing students with a unique, hands-on learning opportunity to get under the skin of one of The General’s most advanced performance machines.
The new Z06 is only the latest donation GM has made to the program, with previous donations including various Cadillac models, heavy-duty pickups, engines, and other automotive components.
“This is a game-changer for our students,” said Brookdale automotive technology professor, Ivan Anderson. “The 2024 Corvette is packed with cutting-edge technology, and our students will have the unique opportunity to work on one of the most advanced vehicles on the road today.”
Priced at an estimated $153,000, the donated Corvette Z06 is motivated by the naturally aspirated 5.5L V8 LT6 gasoline engine, a high-revving powerhouse rated at 670 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. Redline is set at 8,600 rpm. Further highlights include an all-aluminum block, forged aluminum pistons, forged titanium connecting rods, a race-inspired dry-sump oiling system, and twin 87 mm throttle bodies. The V8 connects to the eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission co-developed between GM and Tremec.
The Z06 is also decked out in high-performance carbon fiber aero bits, with adaptive suspension and large Brembo brakes on hand for handling.
The Z06 shows just 409 miles on the odometer, making it essentially brand-new. Students will use the Corvette as an advanced learning tool to explore modern performance diagnostics, engine tuning, and driver-assistance systems. Students at Brookdale’s GM ASEP program receive training for careers at GM dealerships and AC Delco-certified repair facilities, providing real-world experience that will prove invaluable after college.
Looking ahead, the Corvette Z06 will be wrapped in school branding and displayed at high schools, career fairs, and auto events to attract new students.
“We are incredibly grateful to GM for their continued investment in our students’ education,” said STEM Institute Dean Dr. James Crowder. “This Corvette is more than just a car – it’s an opportunity for our students to work with the latest and greatest in automotive engineering.”

All the cars donated by GM and other MFRs are EXPERMENTAL vehicles and cannot be driven on public roadways.
Donate a Corvette but can’t include a spare tire in a Buick
Twisted values in a twisted economy by twisted people. The rabbit hole is always deeper than the surface. First question: what is in it for Gov. motors? Follow the money concerning tax write off benefits in New Jersey law, who is the link in the current school roster, when is this rental plan set to expire, who or how is this offer marketing? So many unexplained questions.
