Four NASCAR Chevy teams from all three national series were penalized following the races at Las Vegas Motor Speedway from March 14th through 16th, 2025.
According to the latest penalty report from NASCAR.com, the most severe penalty was handed to the No. 8 NASCAR Chevy team of Kyle Busch. During the Cup Series race, Busch’s race car suffered a detached wheel, causing him to slam the wall, severely damaging the No. 8 Chevy. Busch’s team was penalized for violating safety guidelines outlined in the NASCAR Rule Book; specifically, Sections 8.8.10.4.A & C.
As a result, Busch has lost two over-the-wall crew members for the next two races. As such, he will compete without jackman Dylan Moser and rear-tire changer Shiloh Windsor starting with this weekend’s race at Homestead-Miami Speedway and continuing through the race at Martinsville Speedway on March 30th. Busch’s NASCAR Chevy team wasn’t alone, either – the No. 19 Toyota TRD Camry of Chase Briscoe also suffered a loose wheel and has also had two crewmembers suspended.
In the Xfinity Series, two NASCAR Chevy teams were fined $5,000 for having one unfastened lug nut following the race at Las Vegas on March 15th. The No. 11 Chevy of Josh Williams and the No. 88 Chevy of Connor Zilisch each had a loose lug found in postrace inspection, meaning their respective teams, Kaulig Racing and JR Motorsports, must pay up. Two Toyota teams – Joe Gibbs Racing and Sam Hunt Racing – were also penalized for the same infraction.
Finally, in the Truck Series, the No. 07 Chevy Silverado RST of Justin Haley was also found to have a loose lug in postrace inspection. His team, Spire Motorsports, was fined $2,500 for the infraction. Spire was the only team penalized following the Truck Series race.
As a reminder, the NASCAR Cup Series race cars feature single-lug wheels, while the Xfinity and Truck Series race cars still utilize the traditional five-lug hubs.
