In a world filled to the brim with luxury-laden glamour trucks, old-school machines like the Chevy C30 stand out from the crowd thanks to their classic style. This particular 1978 C30 definitely delivers on that front, packing a dually body configuration, plus a range of tasteful modifications. Now, we’re taking a closer look thanks to the following feature video.
Once again coming to us from the folks at AutotopiaLA, this tastefully modified 1978 Chevy C30 Dually was built by Empire Fab, and looks to combine vintage aesthetics with modern comfort and performance. The truck was built for a customer who drives it regularly, logging thousands of miles in road trips to car shows across Arizona, and by the looks of it, this rig is perfect for the job.
The truck retains its original body panels, which were carefully restored. The classic two-tone paint scheme, deluxe hood stripes, and original trim give it an authentic 1970s look. The builders even re-chromed the factory stainless trim to match the bumpers for a seamless finish.
Under the hood, this Chevy C30 runs on a 24-valve Cummins diesel engine, which features a Banks turbo setup and a four-inch exhaust system. Output is rated at around 300 horsepower and 550 pound-feet of torque, which hits a sweet spot for towing capability without sacrificing long-term reliability. The engine is paired with a six-speed Allison automatic transmission.
The suspension and chassis has been modified as well, including a custom notch kit in the rear for a lowered stance while keeping the truck’s towing capability intact.
The truck rides on 22-inch Kenworth semi-truck wheels, machined down from 22.5 inches to fit standard tires.
Inside, the cabin in this Chevy C30 stays true to its roots while incorporating modern touches like upgraded gauges, a reupholstered bench seat with added bolstering, and some hidden modern tech, such as a control system for managing the lighting and other features.
Indeed, despite its clean, stock-like appearance, the truck is loaded with thoughtful upgrades, including disc brakes and onboard air management.
All in all, this Chevy C30 is tasteful from end to end. Check it out for yourself right here:

Love the truck but hate the wheels.
Agreed. Why does every custom truck or car on the planet have to be slammed to the ground, with oversized, cartoonish wheels? I would have loved to see this as a “restored to original” look. I guess the kids love this look.
I Just saw this truck on Jay leno’s garage. I guess the owner is making his rounds on the press. I like it but yea the wheels are too big for my taste. He nailed the color combo and hood striping.
Sweet spot for towing capacity, with no tow hitch. . Swing and a miss…
