A dramatic new viral video captures a red Chevy Impala stopped in the middle of a busy freeway, only to be struck twice more by oncoming traffic.
The video was shot by the dash cam of a police cruiser and was recently reposted to social media. In the video, we see the police officer on the scene narrowly avoid the fast-moving traffic, tiptoeing around the double-whammy wreck by mere inches.
The video opens to show a red Chevy Impala sedan stopped on a multi-lane highway. The Impala shows signs of damage, with several dented body panels and broken windows, indicating it was involved in a collision just prior to the start of the video clip. To make matters worse, the Impala is stopped in a very precarious position, taking up to lanes perpendicular to oncoming traffic.
We see the police cruiser stopped in one of the lanes, blocking one half of the crashed Chevy Impala. We also see a police officer walking around the Impala, occasionally glancing up to check on oncoming traffic.
Suddenly, we see the police officer jump to the side of the Impala as another vehicle speeds down the left lane, smashing into the front fender of the stopped Impala. Just as the Impala is spun around by the first collision, sending it into the right lane, the officer has to jump again as another fast-moving vehicle speeds up the right lane, smashing into the Impala a second time.
The officer runs back to his police cruiser, obviously a bit shaken by what just went down. Meanwhile, the Chevy Impala rolls down the road from the double impacts and comes to a rest in the right lane as debris from the vehicles litters the freeway.
The whole scene plays out a second time in slow motion, showing just how close things really were, especially for the police officer. It appears as though the Impala driver was still in the vehicle.

Damn, that cop should be a rodeo clown on his day off.
This is the kind of S**T that really makes me angry. Especially having been a police officer and fully knowing what that officer was attempting to do.
What ever happened to rules of the road? Driving safely? Moving over for emergency lights and slowing down? No matter why that police cruiser was sitting there with the lights on, the other drivers need to just slow way down and move over.
The bad driving habits and lack of respect for the police and other drivers anymore is just pathetic. Just last night I was driving home on a 4 lane street (2 each way with divider). I was doing the speed limit in the right lane and driving safely. Another car in the left lane came up along side me and for some reason slowed down, driving along side me for a few blocks. Another car (SUV of course) came up behind that car to my left and was riding their bumper and began to flash the headlights. So the car to my left sped up some and as they got less than a car length ahead of me, the SUV driver decided they couldn’t wait any longer and cut between us. I had to slam on my brakes so that they didn’t take my front bumper off.
People just have zero patience, are rude as heck, think they own the road, lack respect for any other drivers and are just bad. And since everyone is now piloting these stupid SUV’s all over the roads, they act like they own the roads.
Sparky, I feel your frustration, it’s hard to block the scene with a police cruiser, especially when it’s in the middle of the highway. As a firefighter we have big apparatus to do it better. Our problem is car fires, we can block the scene, but the pump operator is exposed to traffic. If only people knew how many police and firefighter are killed on the highway.
