Chevy Trax Still The Third Cheapest New Vehicle In The U.S.

Despite the perpetual rise of price tags across the auto industry, the 2025 Chevy Trax remains one of the most affordable new vehicles in the U.S. market. In fact, with a starting price of $21,795 (including destination freight charge), the Trax slots in as the third cheapest new vehicle currently on sale.

At the top of the affordability list is the 2025 Nissan Versa at $20,130, followed by the 2025 Hyundai Venue at $21,650. The Trax comes in just ahead of the 2025 Kia Soul and 2025 Nissan Sentra, priced at $21,885 and $22,730, respectively. Note that these figures include MSRP, destination freight charge, and an automatic transmission (a five-speed manual Versa starts at $18,330).

Badging on the Chevy Trax crossover.

We should also mention that the Trax is still one of the most affordable options in spite of a recent price hike, with the 1LS base trim up $300 and the 1RS, 1LT, 2RS, and Activ each increasing by $400. Pricing now spans from $21,795 for the 1LS to $25,795 for the top-tier 2RS and Activ trims. Check out our previous coverage for more information.

Alongside the Trax, GM’s other entry-level crossovers, the Chevy Trailblazer and Buick Envista, also grab spots in the top 15 most affordable new vehicles. Like the 2025 Trax, the 2025 Envista has also received a price bump, however, the increase for the Buick is much more substantial, with pricing for the Preferred trim up by $1,100, pricing for the Sport Touring up by $800, and pricing for the Avenir is up by $200. Meanwhile, the 2026 Trailblazer gets a small $100 price decrease compared to the preceding 2025 model year.

The 2025 Chevy Trax marks the second model for the sub-compact crossovers’s second generation, debuting a series of important updates, including new exterior and interior color choices, as well as a new E85-capable engine.

  1. But they’d better watch it. Envista is no longer attractive and if GM doesn’t cool it, it’ll blow the Trax up too.
