The GM Authority Take
Chevy Blazer sales were good enough for the model to place fourth in its segment of ten entries in the midsize mainstream crossover space, accounting for nine percent of the segment’s sales volume – not a bad showing.
Even so, the ICE-powered Blazer will be dropped after the 2025 model year. Meanwhile competitors are all in, with refreshed, next-generation, and new models debuting in this marketplace. The latest is the first-ever 2025 Toyota Crown Signia, introduced to replace the discontinued Venza. The Crown Signia is available exclusively with a hybrid powertrain. Meanwhile, the CX-70, Murano, Santa Fe, Sorento, Passport are either all-new or refreshed to continue competing in this space.
Currently, Chevy offers a full stable of combustion-powered utilities totaling seven nameplates. That breaks out into five unibody crossovers and two body-on-frame models:
Chevy Unibody Crossovers:
Chevy Body-On-Frame SUVs
Additionally, Buick and GMC – which compete in roughly the same space as Chevy – offers four utilities each.
We recently opined that GM would be well served to remake the Chevy Blazer as a rugged crossover along the lines of the all-new 2026 Honda Passport, though this is a now a moot point.
Going forward, the Chevy Blazer EV will indirectly replace the Blazer. The Blazer EV and the Chevy Equinox EV continue to see healthy volumes; combined sales of both models accounted for 59 percent, or nearly three-fifths, of all GM EV sales for Q4 2024.
About Chevrolet Blazer
The 2025 Chevy Blazer returns with only a handful of small changes compared to the preceding 2024 model year, including the deletion of three exterior colors.
For 2025, the Blazer continues to offer two engine options: the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY gasoline engine, rated at 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, and the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LGX gasoline engine, rated at 308 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque. Both engines are mated to the GM nine-speed automatic transmission, while front-wheel drive is standard and all-wheel drive is optional.
Maximum towing capacity is 4,500 pounds with the V6 engine and the Trailering Equipment Package.

This is the vehicle that is replacing the Malibu. Less volume, but 15k more price tag. I would keep both.
If this is the last year for the ICE Blazer, and also the Malibu, please explain how the Blazer is going to replace the Malibu.
The Hyundai/Kia models sell more because they are cheaper in construction sbd lrice
We looked at 2025 Equinox. It’s slightly bigger than previous model and a little “trucky.” Blazer getting hit on both sides with ICE Equinox and EV Equinox/Blazer.
Great looking vehicle. The exterior looks like they’ve taken a page from the 2021-2024 Buick Envision.
Who says the 2025 Blazer is its final model year? GM Authority? To date there has been no official confirmation of that from Chevy / GM. Media “exclusive” speculation is not a confirmation.
We are very pleased with our Blazer Premier, and all we need is something with two rows. If it goes out of production, I’d like at least over 200 HP and something not assembled in China. So far, if I’m going with an ICE, GM has abandoned me.
Sales have been going down for years and this is made in Mexico and is the only ICE vehicle made in the all EV plant. It won’t be missed.
GM needed the production of 2025 Blazer ICE for the Mexico plant to run at full capacity. EV orders alone were not enough. I doubt the EV orders for 2026 MY are pouring in, again. The ICE may be needed again. The Mexico plant is not an “all EV plant”, obviously.
Mary needs to retire, another decent selling vehicle, that outsells 6 competitors. Why kill it? Guess she hasn’t figured out that under the present administration EV’s are not going to sell as well as ICE powered vehicles. Take away the big incentives and EV sales will drop. I have nothing against EV’s and in some markets they are a good match, but not where I live. Why are they abandoning another segment? Mary please retire; GM can’t afford any more of your idiotic decisions.
Camaro, Malibu, Blazer, all Cadillac sedans, standard transmissions, the XT5 and lets not forget all of the other fallen names Impala, Cruze, Sonic, Regal, LaCrosse and several others. Yes Malaise era II is being cemented into existence with gM being the ringleader of incompetence.
After having two CTS Cadillacs I bought a new 2024 Chevrolet Blazer RS a year ago with the V6 engine with 308 HP—has all wheel drive. I have been very happy with my purchase–looks great in the red-tint color—brisk quiet acceleration with the V6–on regular gas—very comfortable for me–I’m 6’3” and 240lbs—I advise checking one out before it’s too late.
