The GM Authority Take

Chevrolet Argentina sales started the new calendar year with an impressive double-digit increase in January, continuing the remarkable recovery  that started in December after a negative streak that lasted 13 consecutive months. As such, the 3,740 units sold by Chevrolet in the Argentine market during January represents one of the best monthly sales figures for the brand in the local market.

The favorable January results were led by the best-selling Chevy Tracker. The domestically manufactured crossover added 650 additional units – the most among all of the brand’s models on a year-over-year basis, consolidating it as one of the most popular utility vehicles in the country. It is worth noting that the Tracker is the only vehicle that is manufactured at the GM Alvear plant in Argentina.

Almost all of Chevrolet’s imported vehicles in the Argentine market register large triple- and quadruple-digit increases, from the most significant gains made by the Chevy Onix and the compact pickup Chevy Montana to the largest decrease in sales of the Chevy TrailBlazer SUV. Chevy’s imported model line is benefiting from the elimination of barriers and taxes recently implemented by the local government to stimulate the growth of the Argentine automotive market.
