The GM Authority Take
With 8K deliveries, Cadillac Lyriq sales were the highest on a quarterly basis during Q4 2024. That enables the Lyriq to remain the runner-up in its segment, albeit a very distant second compared to the Tesla Model Y, which continues to dominate with an 86 percent segment share. However, Model Y sales fell seven percent while the Lyriq posted a 112 percent gain.
Notably, third place in the segment went to the 2024 Acura ZDX, which actually uses GM Ultium EV technology and is produced by GM the Spring Hill plant facility as the Lyriq.
It’s also worth noting that GM continues to expand the markets where it sells the Lyriq, taking it beyond the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and China – regions typical to Cadillac. Since then, it has also launched the Lyriq in the Middle East, France, Germany, South Korea, and Australia. The newly announced high-performance Lyriq-V will be sold worldwide.

About Cadillac Lyriq
The 2025 Cadillac Lyriq was refreshed without anyone noticing, arriving with some notable changes.
The 2025 Lyriq drops the base Tech trim level, which didn’t get these top 10 features. The 2025 model gets paint color availability changes, with some color options available for the 2024 model year being restricted to one of the two remaining trim levels for 2025. It offers blue, bronze and red accent packages, the ambient lighting adds 100 new colors, and a front passenger position memory feature becomes available. However, the 2025 model drops the underhood beauty cover.
Here are the 2025 Lyriq paint colors, the interior colorways, and available wheels.
Furthermore, the 2025 Lyriq also gets increased horsepower ratings and range in the U.S., and will use 24 percent fewer parts than the 2024 model.
In January, GM announced 2026 Cadillac Lyriq-V specs and pricing, with the new high-performance variant of the all-electric luxury crossover featuring a dual-motor powertrain energized by a 102 kWh lithium-ion battery pack to produce an estimated 615 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque. That catapults the Cadillac Lyriq-V from 0 to 60 mph in an estimated 3.3 seconds with Velocity Max mode activated, making it 0.1 seconds quicker than the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing, while the Lyriq-V soundtrack was inspired by the CT5-V Blackwing and V-Series.R.
On interesting note, the upcoming Chevy Blazer EV SS and Cadillac Lyriq-V have the same output.
The 2026 Lyriq-V will be available in two trim levels, namely Lyriq-V and Lyriq-V Premium. The new variant won’t get these two paint colors, but will be offered with a carbon fiber splitter as part of an Exterior Carbon Fiber Package, and feature an all-new steering wheel.
The impending arrival of the 2026 Lyriq-V means the Velocity powertrain upgrade will no longer be available on the “regular” Lyriq model.
Also, testing shows that the Cadillac Lyriq is not very energy efficient in winter even though it offers a heat pump.
Recently, with a refresh likely coming at some point for the Lyriq, did GM just show us an updated design?

Why do you keep comparing the MY with the Lyriq and those other brands/models. The MY is a different category and price range.
Simple: because the Y is in the same segment and you’re wrong.
Model Y starting vehicle price: $59,990
Lyriq starting MSRP: $58,595
Both prices before any credits.
I encourage you to look at cross-sale reports (if you have access). The Y is the Lyriq’s number one cross-shopped competitor.
The Tesla Model Y had no luxury to compete with the Cadillac Lyriq. It is an expensive electric crossover. The Ford Mustang Mach-E can compete against it in price.
I don’t disagree with your statement that the model Y is not a luxury product.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t matter what you or I think – the public is paying luxury car prices for it, whether we like it or not.
The Lyriq doesn’t hold a candle to quality, tech and performance to Tesla. How many decades has GM tried and failed, they should stay in their lane with Ice and leave the EV tech to Tesla because they will never catch up.
LMAO this was written by someone very angry. Lyriq was the number one selling luxury EV in the country. Be mad at the fact that the lyriq’s true competitor, model x, can’t keep up in sales.
Explain how the Y is superior in quality and tech to the Lyriq.
Sales of the Y are in the process of steeply declining thanks to Elon’s cozying up to MAGA and his cruel dismissal of thousands of government employees. Many owners of Teslas are getting rid of them and shopping around for other EVs such as the Lyriq.
When the Cadillac Optiq becomes available at more dealers, it will take away Tesla Model Y sales as it will cost less with more luxury, which is why buyers prefer a Cadillac against the spartan Model Y. I am one.
No bumper stickers are required for Lyriq owners.
Maybe if tesla would add an option to get factory Audi badges they could gain some buyers back. 🙂
My 2024 Lyriq AWD is outstanding. Best vehicle I’ve ever owned. There are simply so many advantages to EV that I don’t foresee going back to ICE.
However, it’s hard to beat a C8.
But, if the C9 offers an EV I’d get one.
I’m ready to be done with the maintenance required by ICE.
Only need to rotate tires on a Lyriq.
Your 3-ton Lyriq behemoth requires those tires to be replaced more frequently than a XT5. I’m told from my insider friends that service on these EV’s quote: have had customers with their 3rd set of tires @ 40K miles. Good luck with resale on your greatest vehicle.
ANY high performance vehicle, driven with enthusiasm, will require more tire purchases than regular grocery-getters. Your “insider information” is just spewing misinformation.
Great vehicle, no question about it. But PLEASE for the love of God – bring the updated “Chinese” 2026 XT5 to the US and truly give customers a choice.
The Model Y is just starting to play catch up. The revamped Y is the first one with passable ride quality and interior noise. Prior, it was economy car class in those categories. The closest Model Y competition from GM is the Equinox.
