Michigan man Deon Brooks, 24, was arrested on Tuesday on charges of stealing Cadillacs from GM’s lot on Van Dyke Avenue in Warren, retagging them with cloned VINs, and selling them out of state. According to the Detroit Free Press, authorities indicated that the stolen models in question were the Cadillac Escalade-V.

Brooks has pleaded not guilty in court and is currently lodged in Macomb County Jail with a $2,000,000 cash/surety bond. The ongoing investigation says the value of the cars allegedly stolen by Brooks exceeds $1.5 million. Authorities seized from Brooks VIN retagging equipment, jewelry, drugs, several printers, fraudulent documents, and a more practical car than an Escalade-V, a Chrysler Pacifica.
In addition to this investigation, Brooks is also on bond in the Romeo District Court on charges of unlawful driving away of an automobile from dealers in Washington Township, Michigan in February 2024. Brooks has a busy schedule coming up with a probable cause conference slated for March 20th, a preliminary exam on March 27th, and a court hearing in Romeo on April 8th.
This is at least the second Cadillac SUV heist in recent months. We reported in December that multiple early production units of the Cadillac Escalade IQ were stolen from the same Warren lot. However, one of them comically got stuck trying to mount a security wall and was left spinning its wheels, blocking more SUVs from being stolen.
GM launched the Cadillac Escalade-V in 2023 and more recently refreshed the high-powered full-size SUV for the 2025 model year. Like the rest of the Escalade lineup, the refreshed 2025 Cadillac Escalade-V features an updated design inside and out while maintaining its signature aggressive style and luxury.
Under the hood, the 2025 Cadillac Escalade-V is powered by the supercharged 6.2L V8 LT4 gasoline engine, which doles out an incredible 682 horsepower and 653 pound-feet of torque, sending the full-size luxury SUV from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.4 seconds. The Escalade-V rides on the GM’s T1 platform, while vehicle production takes place at the GM Arlington Assembly plant in Texas.
For those looking to obtain this high-performance luxury SUV legally, new units of the 2025 Escalade-V are arriving in dealers now.

It’s Macomb County Sheriff.
I was unaware that there was such a thing as country police! Maybe that’s what they call the sheriff’s deputies there…
His ma ma just phoned in and said he is a good boy!
Yes. It’s now a country. You need your passport to go from Oakland into Macomb.
For such expensive vehi les, dealer security is too weak and shallow!
