As dealership inventories increased across the U.S. in January 2025 in response to purchases dropping after the Christmas sales rush and bitter, snowy weather keeping people at home, Cadillac also saw its dealer stock climb to a 98 days supply, slightly above the 96 days industry average.
Cadillac inventory showed something of a roller-coaster effect as it rose to 103 days supply in November 2024, plunged to a 77 days supply in December and surged again, as noted, to a 98 days supply in the first month of 2025, according to Cox Automotive reporting.
A year ago, Cadillac inventory followed much the same pattern. January 2024 inventory for the premium GM brand was at a 60 days supply, up from 52 days in December, but down slightly from 61 days in November 2023. Notably, a 60 days supply is considered to be an optimum level across the auto industry. Days supply indicates the number of days dealers would still have inventory at current vehicle numbers and rate of sales.
As for individual Cadillac models, there’s a strong supply of Cadillac Escalade IQ units at the moment, with about 3,500 vehicles on dealer lots or in transit according to GM. There’s also a good supply of Optiq units with more than 3,000 of them on dealer lots or in transit. Cadillac CT4 and Cadillac CT5 sedans have the highest days supply in the U.S., while the ICE Cadillac Escalade luxury SUV has the lowest.
January paints a very different picture to December 2024, which was “an optimistic end to the year, with consumer sentiment riding high and high-priced vehicles selling like hotcakes” according to Cox executive analyst Erin Keating. Sales of new vehicles plunged 25 percent after the year-end boom, while inventory hiked upward 26 percent as far fewer purchases took place.
These are standard January seasonal trends seen across many years, though perhaps a bit stronger in 2025 because of the contrastingly large surge in sales draining inventories in December. However, the sales momentum isn’t quite over. Sales are 7.2 percent higher in January 2025 than in January 2024, even as inventory was up 14.2 percent year-over-year.
The continuing upbeat pace of sales, even after a major cool-off from December, prompted Keating to remark that sales and inventory trends are “giving the dealers confidence in the market and consumers freedom of choice of vehicle.”

Are there going to be any incentives for the XT4 since they are discontinuing it?
Actually they have lessened the incentives on purchase price. Bought our ‘24 Radiant Red Tintcoat Premium Luxury in August with a rebate of $1000 & Educator Discount of $500. Unless it has changed rebate is now $750. Have read some dealers discounting more off sticker. Our first Cadillac & we love it. An all electric Cadillac line except for the ICE Escalade offers nothing we want or need. Sad.
