AEV (American Expedition Vehicles) is now offering its heavy-duty front bumper for the 2024-and-later Chevy Silverado HD as a standalone product, providing enthusiasts with enhanced off-road durability, recovery capability, and functionality. The bumper is compatible with both the Silverado 2500 HD and 3500 HD models, covering gasoline- and diesel-powered variants. AEV and GM have collaborated on several off-roader-spec models in the past, including the Chevy Silverado ZR2 Bison, GMC Sierra AT4X AEV Edition, Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison, and GMC Canyon AT4X AEV Edition. This particular bumper is the same piece equipped by the Silverado HD ZR2 Bison.
One of the standout features of the new bumper is its winch compatibility, with provisions specifically tailored for the COMEUP SOLO 12.5rs GMF winch when installed with AEV’s Winch Install Kit. The integrated tow points also offer additional recovery options.
The AEV front bumper includes fog lights, a block heater connection, and a full wire harness, all in a bolt-on, ready-to-install package. It also includes all necessary mounting and reinforcement brackets, along with wheel liner trim templates for seamless integration. Additionally, the bumper is compatible with the Front Park Assist feature.
The AEV bumper features a multi-stage E-coat and powder-coat finish to protect against corrosion, UV damage, and harsh weather conditions. For those looking to add extra lighting, the bumper can also accommodate an LED light bar, although no pre-drilled holes are included.
Pricing for the bumper starts at $4,900, per the AEV website.
As a reminder, the Chevy Silverado HD lineup is available with the naturally aspirated 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline engine, producing 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque, and the 6.6L V8 L5P turbodiesel Duramax, producing 470 horsepower and 975 pound-feet of torque. Both powertrains are paired with the Allison-branded 10-speed automatic transmission, while under the skin, we find a more-capable variant of the GM T1 platform. Chevy Silverado HD production takes place at the GM Flint Assembly plant in Michigan, as well as the GM Oshawa plant in Canada.

My guess at $5k for the bumper was very accurate! Let’s go off-roading in out $80k HD trucks, huh? I guess people have & make more $ than I…. I live in the mountains of Montana, these new, BIG trucks are worthless in the winters as they’re HEAVY and if you slide one into a tree, theres an easy $10k repair bill. That’s why my mountain truck is an ’89 3/4 ton 4 speed truck, and I’ve driven by several of these new truck that could not go where I was headed. The diesels are especially worthless because of the added weight.
