A rare and desirable sixth-generation Chevy Camaro SS is headed to the Mecum Indy 2025 auction block in May. It’s the Hertz/Hendrick Motorsports Edition (RPO PEH), number 198 of 200 produced, and this one has never been rented. It only has 37 miles on the odometer.
This Chevy Camaro is finished in Black with a Hertz Yellow custom appearance package. The highlight of the appearance package is the yellow stripes, Hertz badging on the front fenders, the Hendrick Motorsports logo, and the number 24. William Byron currently represents number 24 on the Hendrick Motorsports NASCAR team, and it was famously run by Chase Elliott and Jeff Gordon before him.
On the inside, you’ll find a Black leather interior with Recaro front seats, Hertz illuminated sill plates, yellow interior trim, alloy pedals, a commemorative dash plaque, and 24 William Byron embroidered headrests and embroidered floor and trunk mats.
Other upgrades that come with the Hertz/Hendrick Motorsports Edition include a Chevy cold air intake system, a Chevy cat-back exhaust upgrade, yellow brake calipers, a commemorative plaque in the engine bay, the number 24 on the coolant reservoir cap, oil filler cap, and brake fluid reservoir cap, and 20-inch Satin Black aluminum wheels.
Power comes from a 6.2L V8 LT1, rated at 480 horsepower and 455 pound-feet of torque. Output is sent to the rear wheels via a 10-speed automatic transmission. The 25-hp increase over a regular Chevy Camaro SS comes from the upgraded intake and exhaust.
Starting in 2019, Hertz began offering this special edition of the Camaro SS alongside a ZL1. Part of the reason for the William Byron branding is that at the time of this car’s release, Hertz ran a sweepstakes with prizes that included a shot at a driving experience at Charlotte Motor Speedway with William Byron, a tour of the Hendrick Motorsports facilities, NASCAR Hall of Fame passes, and lunch with the No. 24 Hendrick Motorsports team.
Bidders will be able to take a shot at owning this rare 2020 Chevy Camaro SS on May 15th.

Someone drank the Rick Hendrick Kool Aid. 🤣
Oh Boy! Another Rick Hendricks rip off. I use to wonder where some of the folks that bid on that doctored up junk at Mecom’s got their money until I realized I knew one. This guy inherited every penny of it and he has been spending it on cars ever since.
What a cheap snarky comment! But of course, pipe fitters are probably jealous.
This is one of very few modern vehicles that will actually appreciate in value in just a few years. Oh and its Mecum not “Mecom”
GUEST: Looks like others have drank that cool aid.
STEVE: I forgot how they spell their name, Sorry. I don’t watch it anymore. I just couldn’t sit and watch a bunch grown men pay ridiculous prices for a bunch of doctored up old cars that I drove in my in my youth, and I’ll tell you Steve a lot of them were not anything to brag about when they were factory fresh.
I am glad I only read this for entertainment and nut to fend miisspelledd wurds. Looks like a nice car some one will be happy. But looks like no one on this site. Wonder what gems they have sinking in the yard.
add a couple stripes .. “Prototype” badge .. double the price .. Back in the 70’s / 80’s there were 3 or 4 REAL DEAL special vehicle builders in Detroit who built REAL special vehicle [prototypes] ground up! Cars & Concepts [C&C] Brighton Mi., built the PONTIAC [Firebird one off] 1988. RED BANSHEE IV. That was a real PROTOTYPE! Actually used in a segment on “Back to The Future II”. Those were the days! “Q”? How many Hertz Camaro’s were built?
I remember when Hendricks was doing these. They were selling the original tires/wheels on eBay for $600 a set! Still kicking myself for not picking up a set. I did pick up 2 of the original airbox assemblies (included filters) for $50 each. They did some ZL1’s also (I believe there were only 20 of those.
Just checked and they did 24 of the ZL1’s. 750 HP. 224 total.
