2026 GMC Terrain Gets New Trailering Package

The 2026 GMC Terrain will offer both a factory-installed trailer hitch and an optional dealer-installed or LPO trailer hitch package depending on trim level, GM Authority has learned.

Including standard and optional trailer hitches and trailering packages sets the 2026 GMC Terrain apart from the current 2025 GMC Terrain model, which doesn’t currently offer either a dealer-installed or factory trailer hitch.

Following the introduction of the GMC Terrain’s third generation with the debut of the 2025 model year, only the Elevation trim is offered for the initial year of the new generation’s production. The rugged, off-road focused AT4 and the premium Denali trims will be launched for 2026 instead.

Now, it is known that the 2026 GMC Terrain AT4 and Denali trims will be produced equipped as standard with a factory-installed trailer hitch (RPO code VR2) enabling towing straight out of the dealer lot. Also equipped as standard for these trims will be the Trailering Package (RPO code V92) that includes the 7-pin wiring harness.

Meanwhile, the entry-level 2026 Terrain Elevation will offer an LPO or dealer-installed trailer hitch (RPO code SDE) that can be optioned for an additional $795 by the purchaser. An exterior molding kit (RPO code 5KE) must also be purchased in conjunction with the SDE trailer hitch for $150 according to current information.

Pricing for the 2026 GMC Terrain has been exclusively uncovered by GM Authority. MSRP for the Elevation trim starts at $31,295 with FWD and $33,295 for the AWD configuration. Meanwhile, the AT4 trim will start at $39,995 and the Denali at $42,495, with all-wheel drive standard on both trim levels. A $1,395 destination freight charge is included in these prices.

The 2026 Terrain is also expected to get a new paint color, Glacier White Tricoat (color code G4J), which will be exclusively available on the Denali trim. The start of regular production (SORP) for the 2026 model year is currently scheduled for Monday, March 17th, 2025.

The crossover continues to ride on the GM D2 platform under the sheet metal. Production will take place at the GM San Luis Potosí plant in Mexico.

  1. Big whoop. It needs a total option packaging redo instead. Of course they work on something far less important.

  2. So, with the current motor, what can you tow? A very small trailer and two sacks of mulch will be the limit!

  6. Now they just need a 2.0T or more power out of the little 1.5T to get serious about this vehicle. The current 800/1500 tow ratings are very weak!

  7. I couldn’t give a sheet, without 2.0L or greater natural aspirated engine, it’s garbage.

  8. It’s a Equinox copy with ugly front end. GM is killing successful lines in favor of EVs. It would be great seeing GM lead the segment but Barra must remember ICE keeps the lights on. Design updates for XTs and Malibu are in China. A unique Terrain wouldn’t have cost a fortune
