After revealing teaser images of the midsize pickup for the South American country at the end of February, General Motors has just officially introduced the new 2026 Chevy D-Max in Ecuador.
The automaker’s Ecuadorian subsidiary unveiled the new 2026 Chevy D-Max as Chevrolet’s upcoming midsize work pickup truck for Ecuador’s domestic market, where the D-Max is deeply rooted and has been the country’s best-selling vehicle in recent years. The reimagined 2026 D-Max continues the truck’s successful legacy in the Ecuadorian market with a new offering completely adapted to local tastes and standards.
“With a legacy of more than 100 years of pickup truck development, the new 2026 Chevrolet D-Max reflects General Motors’ commitment to innovation and safety with every mile driven; it’s a demonstration of power packed with experience,” said GM Ecuador Country Manager, Oswaldo León. “The new D-Max underwent an exhaustive preparation and calibration process, ensuring it meets GM’s high global quality standards and adequately responds to the country’s conditions,” he added.
As GM Authority exclusively confirmed, the new 2026 Chevy D-Max is basically a updated Chevy S10 Max with a unique powertrain, specific chassis and suspension calibration, and several design and equipment tweaks unique to Ecuador. In fact, GM Ecuador’s Product Engineering team worked hard with SAIC Motor to ensure the 2026 D-Max stays true to its heritage with many changes over the model on which it’s based.
Mechanically, the 2026 Chevy D-Max is powered by a turbodiesel 2.0L engine producing 159 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, exclusive to the Ecuadorian model and coupled to a six-speed manual transmission across the range. GM claims the powertrain is specifically approved to work with the country’s fuel and topographical conditions, providing improved performance compared to the outgoing model.
The new 2026 Chevy D-Max is now available for sale at Chevrolet Ecuador’s extensive dealer network. The initial launch range includes two trim levels: the entry-level Hi-Ride with both 4×2 and 4×4 drivetrains, and the Premier with standard 4×4. Additionally, the new model offers a lengthier list of standard technology and safety features for the D-Max line, while offering an extended warranty of 7 years or 150,000 km.
Here are the starting prices for the new 2026 Chevy D-Max in Ecuador:
- 2026 D-Max Hi-Ride 4×2: $29,990 USD (official currency of the South American country)
- 2026 D-Max Premier 4×4: $39,990 USD

I want it here in USA
Cannot, it’s from CHIna.
So do these vehicles sold overseas have all of our emissions control equipment installed?….. he asks sarcastically. I’ll bet they get better MPGs (Adjusted for weight) with out all of the extra emissions hardware when compared to our US based vehicles. Think less fuel burned, likely less pollutants emitted.
No they do not have all the EPA weight adding crap on them that is required in the USA
Hey…….we want a manual gearbox in our trucks too!
Better wake up GM, tell Mary to mover her keister and get this and the Montana also sold in that area into the US market. Why ? Nissan, yes Nissan … the decision to bring the N300 has been made, it could be here late fall ’25 as a ’26 model. It’s a work truck, so don’t expect the Cowboy Cadillac images that are in your mind. The N300 will be a body on frame, not like the Maverick in any manner shape or form. 5 speed, 2 door regular cab only, steel wheels. The options should include a/c, auto, cruise, tilt wheel, cloth seats, am/FM radio, and a upgrade tow package, the basics. As far as pricing, with the above options around $21K to $22K. I put my buying plans on hold was going to buy a Trax LS, waiting for a e-mail from Nissan on an exact sales release date. My neighbor has one of these back in 1978 … drive it close to 20 years, and gave it to his son who drove it another 5 years, it currently is owned by a farmer who uses it only off road at his farm, the little white 4WD Datson 620 is STILL running great, it has a camper shell on it’s back and it’s his portable workshop.
Don’t hold your breath. If it’s something the customer in the US desires, today’s GM is sure NOT to offer it. 😕
Any customer has the option to order a vehicle at any gm dealership and build it to their specs. I just did it with my Silverado. GM changed the canyon and Colorado availability for the current body style because the truck you claim would sell wasn’t being ordered or bought by customers when dealers would spec them out that way.
As to the $21k pricetags. Not possible. Cannot build it in the USA with all the emissions regulations and sell it for that price. Even the base Trax costs in that ballpark without a diesel engine, no frame, and considerably less sheet metal by having no bed.
GM: We will build the trucks Ecuadorians want.
Also GM: Buy our overpriced EV pickups you dirty Americans!
They are building what Americans want too. You can go to a GM dealer and build the truck you want. I just did it with a Silverado. Dealers tend to order trucks the way customers want them. If they didn’t then they wouldn’t sell and the dealer loses money by paying interest on the floor plan loan of the vehicle.
