Even with the price increase, the Blazer is still on the more affordable side of midsize crossovers with two-row seating. It starts lower than the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport, which both still start at under $40k. The Honda Passport, Nissan Murano, and Mazda CX-70 all start at over $40k.
As we exclusively reported in February, the ICE-powered Chevy Blazer will be discontinued in North America after the 2025 model year, according to sources familiar with the matter. The nameplate will continue to be offered in China where a slightly larger three-row model is available.
In North America, the ICE-powered Blazer is currently assembled at the GM Ramos Arizpe plant in Mexico, which is now set to become an EV-exclusive facility. The plant already manufactures the Chevy Equinox EV and its Cadillac Optiq platform mate, along with the Chevy Blazer EV and its Honda Prologue platform mate, making the ICE-powered Blazer the only non-electric model still being produced at the facility. Up until this point, Ramos Arizpe has operated as a “flexible” plant facility capable of producing both ICE-powered models and EVs, much like the GM Spring Hill plant in Tennessee.
If Chevy follows through on discontinuing the ICE-powered Blazer in North America, there will be no gas-powered crossover slotted between the compact Equinox and the three-row Traverse. However, the Chevy Equinox got a little bigger with its most recent redesign, arguably making the Blazer redundant. The Equinox also has two subcompact crossovers slotted below it in the Chevy lineup: the Trax and Trailblazer.
Eliminating the Chevy Blazer could help clear up some confusion for crossover shoppers who thought the Chevy Blazer EV was just an electric version of the ICE-powered Blazer. In fact, they share little in common other than the name and production site. The Blazer that was introduced in 2019 rides on the C1 platform, while the Blazer EV is underpinned by the entirely different BEV3 platform.

Price increases just before an economic collapse and tariffs? More Gougy Motors brilliance.
The Blazer, and most others in this class, aren’t worth anywhere near asking prices.
We won’t have a complete collapse but the economy needs a reset!! The past 4 years have been out of control!! Whether it’s vehicles, houses, fuels, or food. It’s crazy how much the prices have gone up. It needs to be reset and brought back to REALITY!
Mary Buick Envision Made in China-Barra’s pricing policies is to make Chevrolets so expensive that they can no longer be considered budget vehicles. Sales will decline even further, then there will be more prices increases to make up for declining sales.
