The 2025 Cadillac XT5 represents the ninth model year of the luxury crossover’s first generation, for which it’s getting one change that results in a handful of related changes. Let’s take a look at everything that’s new and different about the 2025 XT5.
Model Cadence
The 2025 Cadillac XT5 follows the 2017 XT5, which served as the launch year of the XT5, followed by a mid-cycle refresh for the 2021 XT5 and minor changes for the 2022 XT5, 2023 XT5, and 2024 XT5.
Model Line
GM made no changes to the model line of the 2025 Cadillac XT5, as the luxury utility vehicle continues to be offered in the following trim levels (product code in parenthesis):
- Luxury FWD or AWD (6NF26)
- Premium Luxury FWD or AWD (6NH26)
- Sport AWD (6NJ26)
Mechanical
No changes are made to the mechanical bits of the 2025 Cadillac XT5, as the luxury crossover continues to be offered with a choice of two gasoline engine choices both mated to GM’s nine-speed automatic transmission, and either in FWD or AWD.
Engine | Fuel | Aspiration | Transmission | Drivetrain | Power (hp / kW @ RPM) | Torque (lb-ft / Nm @ RPM) | Axle |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
2.0L I-4 LSY | Gasoline | Turbo | 9-Speed auto (M3G) | FWD or AWD | 235 / 175 @ 5000 | 258 / 350 @ 1500 – 4000 | 3.47 |
3.6L V6 LGX | Gasoline | Atmospheric | 9-Speed auto (M3W) | FWD or AWD | 310 / 231 @ 6600 | 271 / 366 @ 5000 | 3.49 |
Exterior
Similarly, no changes were made to the exterior of the 2025 Cadillac XT5, with the model continuing as a two-row crossover with four doors and a hatch.
Packages
The biggest change for the 2025 model year comes in the form of the Platinum Package (RPO code JSE), which was deleted from the options list. When it was available, the package was available for the Premium Luxury and Sport trims and included the following features:
- Semi-Aniline leather seating (all rows)
- Leather wrapped instrument panel, console and door trim
- Sueded microfiber headliner
- Illuminated front door sill plates
- Front and rear premium carpeted floor mats (BB4)
- Real-time damping suspension chassis (F45)
- Only included with Platinum Package on Premium Luxury trim, since Sport trim includes F45 as standard
- Performance suspension (FE5)
- Only included with Platinum Package on Premium Luxury trim, since Sport trim includes F45 as standard
Interior
The deletion of the Platinum Package also removes several interior features, including premium carpeted front and rear floor mats (BB4), Night Vision (UV3), and leather-wrapped steering wheel (NP5). This leaves the leatherette-wrapped steering wheel as the only material to wrap the steering wheel.

Maple Sugar (HMS) with Jet Black accents for Platinum Package

Jet Black (HMR) colorway for Platinum Package
Additionally, two colorways that were only available with the Platinum Package are also deleted. These are Maple Sugar with Jet Black accents (HMS) plus Jet Black (HMR). Note that both of these colorways had Semi-Aniline Leather Seats with Chevron Perforated inserts. Also note that the Jet Black colorway remains available for the 2025 model year, but without the Semi-Aniline Leather Seats with Chevron Perforated inserts.
The updates and changes described here are specific to the U.S. market and may be different for other markets.
Where To From Here?
As GM Authority exclusively reported in January, General Motors is planning to discontinue the XT5 in North America after the 2025 model year. This means that the 2025 model year will be the last of the first-gen XT5 in this market. By comparison, Cadillac recently launched the overhauled, second-generation XT5 in China.
As of this writing, we’re not aware of any plans to bring the second-gen model Stateside. If those plans change, you’ll hear about it right here, so be to subscribe to GM Authority for the latest Cadillac XT5 news, Cadillac news, and 24/7 GM news.

Oh well it had a good run
Love my 2018 XT5. Wish they would do a second generation. I am not interested in an EV, so Cadillac will lose me as a customer when I go to replace it in the next year or two, especially after dropping the Platinum package. I will either look for a low mileage CPO or maybe move to a GMC Acadia Denali.
Disappointed to see the XT 5/6 discontinued. Very comfortable inside with all the features you expect from Cadillac. The V-6 (3.6L) never disappoints with power as needed and economy as good or better than the boosted 4’s being forced upon us by the industry. Classy looks and spot on handling in the era of look-a-like SUVs, these thankfully stand apart. I for one will truly miss the XT’s from Cadillac.
Interesting how perspectives can be different. I had a loaner XT5 for several days, and I found the ride to be both disconnected AND not very smooth. It was one of the least enjoyable vehicles I have ever driven. I say this not as criticism, but just to show how personal our tastes are, and why it is so important to test drive a car before you buy!
I am sorry to hear that the XT5 will not be available in the US after the 2025 model year. The XT5 is a great car, I had two both Premium Luxury Platinum’s, before switching to an XT6 in 2024. I hate Cadillac’s “China First” Policy. It sucks that the Chinese market get the new CT6 and the new XT5 and the US gets stuck EVs. After 20 new Cadillacs over the past 25 years, I’ll be forced to switch brands possibly switch to Audi.
The Audi is not a bad option. Eventually we’ll all be forced to buy other than gm unfortunately, as their products continue to leave their customer base.
I wonder why the XT5 and XT6 as first gen are being discontinued in the USA but a second generation 5will be offered in China. Maybe GM ISN’T really sure about the demise of the 5 and 6 in the USA and if they change their mind they have the China version ready to go in the US?
Nicholas – I dedicated an entire podcast episode outlining my take about why GM isn’t bringing the next-gen XT5 to the States. Podcast episode here:

Mary loves china leaving loyal Cadillac scrambling for other ICE producing alternate companies . We will be looking as well ..
It’s not so much about loving China as it is about demand forecasting (going where the market will be) and the ease with which vehicles can be brought to market there vs. the U.S.
GM IS TURNING BUYERS AWAY
The XT5 Is the perfect car for Seniors who don’t want anything bigger or smaller! GM is totally missing the point…I’m a single grandmother and I don’t want a XT4, which I think was introduced as an entry level Cadillac and I liken it to a go-cart! Wake up GM!
What Cadillac really needs to do is reproduce the 1961 through ‘64 sedan and Coupe Deville series. Nobody is buying all electric cars anymore since Biden got run out of the White House.
I love my Cadillac XT5, it’s just sad that the majority of our car parts come from over seas and not in the United States.
Really nice to drive, plenty of space, great gas mileage. When I got mine, there was 86,000 miles on it and something wrong with the vacuum seal where I put my gas in. Come to find out, it had to be replaced twice. Once for a defective part and then there was something wrong with the hose. Thank goodness it didn’t cost me anything but I can only pray that nothing else goes wrong with it because I would like to keep it for a long time.
