General Motors launched the Cadillac Optiq for the 2025 model year as its newest entry-level EV, expanding the luxury marque’s growing all-electric lineup with an all-new crossover that starts under $55,000. Built on the GM BEV3 platform, the Optiq shares its architecture with the Cadillac Lyriq, Cadillac Vistiq, and Cadillac Celestiq, and as such, it offers plenty of flexibility when it comes to charging technology. To that end, customers can now order the 2025 Cadillac Optiq with a variety of home charger solutions.
Among the home charging solutions now on offer for the 2025 Cadillac Optiq is the GM Energy PowerShift Charger (RPO code 5A), which includes bidirectional functionality to redirect electricity stored in the Optiq’s battery pack back to the home when needed, such as during a blackout. The GM Energy PowerShift Charger delivers up to 19.2 kW (80-amp output).
The 2025 Optiq can also be ordered with the GM PowerUp 2 Charger (RPO code 5CH), a residential EV charger delivering up to 11.5 kW (40-amp output).
Both chargers are designed for hardwired home installation and include the associated charging cord. However, purchasing either option does not include installation. Professional installation is required for both charging options.
Alongside the two home charging solutions listed above, Cadillac is also offering an NACS-to-CCS adapter (RPO code RYZ). GM’s EVs currently use the CCS (Combined Charging System), the industry standard for non-Tesla vehicles, while the NACS (North American Charging Standard), originally developed by Tesla, is gaining traction among automakers. This adapter allows Optiq owners to access Tesla’s extensive Supercharger network for greater public charging flexibility.
All three charging solutions (GM Energy PowerShift Charger, GM PowerUp 2 Charger, and NACS-to-CCS adapter) are available across the Optiq trim level lineup, although official pricing details have yet to be released.
As a reminder, the 2025 Cadillac Optiq is available in four trims, with pricing as follows:
- Luxury 1 – $54,390
- Sport 1 – $54,990
- Luxury 2 – $56,590
- Sport 2 – $57,090
Vehicle production takes place at the GM Ramos Arizpe plant in Mexico.
