The automaker’s local subsidiary launched the RHD 2025 Cadillac Lyriq in the domestic market of Japan during a special launch event in Tokyo, where the luxury brand was relaunched with the latest corporate livery and newest product strategy focused on all-electric models. As such, the all-new 2025 Lyriq stands out as the first next-generation model with a zero-emission powertrain for the Japanese market.

“The Cadillac’s first battery electric vehicle (BEV), the Cadillac Lyriq will go on sale at brand authorized dealer networks nationwide from Saturday, March 8th, 2025,” said Cadillac Japan in a statement. “All 2025 Lyriq units introduced in Japan will be right-hand drive, and deliveries are scheduled to begin after May 2025,” the brand added.

Notably, the RHD 2025 Cadillac Lyriq is being launched in Japan exclusively with the range-topping Sport trim level and dual-motor powertrain, set to appeal to customers seeking bold styling with good dynamic performance. In this regard, the 2025 Lyriq Sport stands out with its distinctive design that includes a grille with a wing-shaped light pattern, a blacked-out overall finish, and six-spoke 21-inch wheels.

Technically, the right-hand-drive 2025 Cadillac Lyriq for the Japanese market is equipped with two electric motors that generate a combined output of 384 kW or 515 horsepower and 610 Nm or 450 pound-feet of torque, equipped with intelligent AWD that maximizes dynamic performance with an ideal 50:50 weight distribution. The propulsion system is fed by a 95.7 kWh (usable) battery that provides a range of 510 km or 317 miles on a single charge.

Customer deliveries of the new RHD 2025 Cadillac Lyriq will begin during the month of May, when the units will begin to arrive at the brand’s exclusive dealer network in the country. The Lyriq units for the Japanese market will leave the factory in RHD configuration from the GM Spring Hill plant in Tennessee. The price of the 2025 Lyriq Sport is 11,000,000 yen, about $74,350 USD at the current exchange rate.

  1. Yesterday I saw an old (1960s) japanese TV show where the agents drive a silver 1964 Chevy Corvair. It was left hand drive. Seems that GM began refitting their vehicles to LHD much later.
